C1 is the answer. that way RL in england will maintain the same consistancy re. australia it has for 40 years.

| clubs should try to link with aussie teams and develop a scholarship scheme where some of our talent goes over there for a year and some of their talent comes over here for a year, it develops the players mind set because they will be out of their comfort zone and it will also help the players because they will get different coaching styles.
i know lenegan was looking into forming a partnership with an aussie club, think it was the dragons or cronulla but not certain, it is a really good idea.

| Once again....I can just see Aussie clubs lining up to develope a playert for a Pommy club and sending one of their best to the UK to learn how not to play the game.
That will never, ever happen.

Token Ellis is a very average player.
The Storm, Manly or Dragons wouldn't entertain him in their sides.
NRL sides should be bringing Aussie players into first grade football instead of some average Brit.
The only good thing about it is that it will teach him how to play the game properly and he will be better when he goes home to the UK

the best way for your test team to get up to speed is to have a good number of your best players spend 3 - 5 years in the nrl. the younger the better.
ellis has been very good in what is a poor forward pack. hell get even better next year.
i even think the RFL should subsidize these moves by putting in say 50,000 pounds a player to make the economics of an nrl move more feasible.
it was aussie players like ken kearney and harry bath playing in england learning from the best that helped australian RL catch up in the 60s.'" What a great idea send all our best players in their prime to the other side of the world to play in teams where the vast majority won't be selected, and pay teams to take them. That'll really help the standard of the competition over here. The NRL is not the be all and end all of RL. Remind me to never employ you.

| They would come back better players though, that's beyond doubt.
When Morley was at the Roosters everytime he turned out for GB he was our best forward by some distance (except a certain game at the JJB).
Not that i'm condoning DM's idea, just saying that it wouldnt be such a bad thing if one or two more went over.

Well why post that sh*t if you know how ridiculous it is?
I mean, if you honestly believe that, good for you. But the same idiots that said Fielden was any good put these sides together.
Civoniceva, Price, Blair, Lima, Poore, Myles.....I could go on and on with props that are better and the list of second rowers would be even longer!

You know the only reason I have any interest in Australia vs England matches these days is to watch all these Pommy players they build up get Ownedâ„¢ so badly.
The effect only lasts about 2 or 3 weeks though, then it was just an off day, the ref hurt them, there was inter club rivalries at work and all that rubbish.
I always look back to the gold standard that was Stuart Fielden. They honestly believed he was the best in the world at a time when Shane Wbcke, Petero Civoniceva and the like were at their prime.
Shamed, demolished, dominated...game after game, but in their hearts these Poms said he was the best in the world.
At the time they were so up their own ar$es they actually gave Andrew Farrell an award and claimed he was the best player in the world!
These players all get found out. Every single last one of them. Even when they avoid test football as much as they can or scamper home from a tour.....all of them get found out.
Thing is, the Poms dont care. As long as these players are the best in their little northern town, no one cares.
Its why England is going backwards and why they were the 9th best team in a 10 team World Cup last year.

| to the 2 pretend aussie fans on here saying ellis hasnt gone well, have you heard of people like peter sterling, laurie daley and warren smith.
all have praised ellis contribution.
had he been playing for one of the sides i mentioned he would be in line for a Dally M award.
please guys, stop making fools of yourselves.
for those of us that do watch the nrl rather than pretend, you are dragging us down with you

| Ellis has gone ok.
I think he is getting a wrap from some commentators because they didn't expect much and have been surprised by his consistency.
His Stats have him similar to most second rowers in the comp no better or worse.
26 tackles a game
8 hit ups
0.72 offloads
2.5 missed tackles
In comparison Nathan Hindmarsh.
39 tackles a game
9 hit ups
2.2 offloads
1.89 missed tackles
Just randomly looking at other players like Watmough, Stewart, Parker Learoyd Lahrs all have figures of equal value some have less tackles and more metres made, it depends on the role they play in the team, the style of player and how much game time they get.
Ellis plays plenty of minutes each games so should have good averages.
Good player who has a go and is well liked by the fans.
He should improve more in his second season and offer more in attack.

He is having a go though Mate and you cant honestly say that he is doing poorly.
He has slotted in better than most imports and better than quite a few Aussies that have gone to England and struggled with the different conditions and lifestyle.
I have seen a couple of interviews he has done and he comes across as a pretty good bloke.
Give him credit for taking the chance I reckon.

| ellis is playing so much better than morley did in his first year.
and the tigers are a poorer side than the chooks were back then imo.
with keith galloway hes their best forward. and galloway has missed loads of games.
if he keeps improving and gets the attacking side down pat, he will be a better player than morley

| I can't believe this thread has gone on this long.
The facts are as follows.
Ellis is a very ordinary player.
Ellis plays for an average club.
Ellis is not very good.
Ellis will be back in the UK soon.
Ellis will return to Superleague a better player after playing in the worlds best league amongst the worlds best players.
Lets end this thread right here and move on ok??
