| Quote ="SaleSlim"For perspective..... here's a post taken from the Salford fans site....
[i"Looking at our fixtures for October and scheduled for November is an absolute joke
October 3rd, 8th, 13th, 17th, 23rd, 26th, 30th (7 games in 27 days)
November 2nd, 6th, 8th, 12th (4 games in 10 days)
Total 11 games in 40 days with one of the smallest squads in Super League.
It's amazing we've managed to fulfil our fixtures so far. Super League and the RFL have a duty of care to the players and any punishment would show then up for what they are."[/i
I'd argue not one SL club could cope with that fixture list, let alone one with the smallest squad. Still, at least the mighty Wire have managed to avoid a 6th consecutive beating at the hands of little old Salford.
'"
I believe as we had no players left and Huddersfield were available we asked if we could postpone our game and re-arrange it, but they wouldn't have it. Wire I believe hadn't played for 17 days (not their fault) and I believe once we play Catalan on the 2nd they won't have played for 23 days.
And people complain about TWO games at Easter. 11 games in 37 days.

| Salford should be heavily fined here. This is top level professional sport. Absolute disgrace:
Majority of other clubs would have dipped into the academy and give some young lads some debuts. This pathetic club doesn’t have one. What do they offer the game?
Great few years with Watson, getting the best out of players other clubs don’t want but they offer the sport nothing long term. Don’t get me wrong I like and respect the team (coach and players) but the club is a joke.
That tweet mocking Warrington for finally beating them is embarrassing. This is professional sport, and you are laughing at another team because you forfeited a game.
You’d think they’d be ashamed.
Should be fined a % of their sky money.

I have to agree ... very poor judgement.

Vote tomorrow, Col.
LiVolsi says that he'll only show his hand (net worth) if/after he gets a positive show of hands from SL+RFL.
Surely everyone will spot a "Boycey"? Mind you RFL didn't with Perez (or at least, for whatever reason, chose to "see no ships"!)
Not a Salford fan but this party doesn't advocate any punishment.
The Challenge Cup should have been ditched this year - it was a joke as it stood and is now making SL laughable as well.

Ignoring the sweets, FW (though hopefully both parts were flippant), with no promotion this year, (and assuming that Toronto are written off) that would lead to a ten team SL - 18 games apiece.
• Scenario A) EASTER KO, limited (or no) crowd admitted, possibility of another Covid-19 affected season, no guarantees anywhere soon. Yeah, sure the traditional SL clubs would like to have a resultantly bigger slice of the pie from The SKY – if it is still bigger than a mini Melton Mowbray.
• Scenario B) Vaccine(s) prove effective, full season ahead and SKY promise the full, Party 12, Victoria Sponge, errm, pie.
Which clubs would be in a position, after most of a season missed, to step into the breach? As we’re now working on win percentages, Toulouse, Leigh & Fev (100% apiece) headed the Championship before its cessation.
Featherstone are said to have opportunistically offered to replace Toronto but were told that the reply was being sent by snail-mail to P Off Road. Extrapolating the points difference at the short season’s end would still see them third after Leigh & Toulouse – in that order.
LEIGH: Others may know more, but the players that Leigh has thus far announced for next (maybe) season don’t make a matchday 17.
TOULOUSE: Their French counterparts, Catalans, are struggling to reach the required fifteen games, Tools have pulled out of competitions as have Cats. Ah, expansionism....for yet another thread.
Don’t kick Salford when most teams are down!

Bore off you tool. Every other club is getting maximum support off the RFL during COVID and have been allowed to reschedule games despite multiple outbreaks at certain clubs. Salford haveu been penalised for keeping (pretty much all) their players COVID free by having to play a stupid amount of games in a short time. As a result they've picked up injuries and player welfare must come first.
As for the tweet.... weren't Wire the instigators of the #bantz a while back (can't remember the specifics but they defo rubbed a number of people up the wrong way)? If you can't take it, don't dish it out, simples.
You're talking out of your "Down Under" Bruce.

I understand why Salford have done this from a player welfare perspective. However Ian Blease rubbed me the wrong way with his calls for a draft system.
Salford Providing nothing then asking for an equal share because it is "fair" when in fact them getting nothing would be actually be "fair". Given that, 2020 is messed up and Salford [ushould not be punished for what are freak circumstances[/u.'"
https://www.skysports.com/rugby-league/ ... commitment
My take is this in nothing to do with COVID (which gets blamed for all sorts of things). The headline for the link contains the words "Financial" and "Failure" IIRC when Koukash left he did the club a massive favour by trying to leave them in the best financial position he could. He's now severed all ties as I understand it.
Ian Watson showed equal loyalty and gave the club two major Final appearances. He's now severed his ties and owes the club nothing.
To me Salford are now sitting in the financial mire, and as it never rains but it pours sometimes one can only think that the club are at a crossroads where their lack of funding is set to catch up with them. That the punishment was no punishment at all also signals sympathy from the game itself.
Can you blame Ian Blease asking for a draft system when it is now likely Salford players who came to play for Watson, who rescued a few careers and gave some failing players a boost and a greater sense of self worth, will start to slowly walk away??
It's astonishing Salford were let off the punishment for seven years, unless the game were treating them with kid gloves, knowing how close to the edge they were, and perhaps giving them time to find an owner. What has happened this last two years is Salford have been great on the pitch, but nobody of any wealth has come in to buy them. So it's time to apply the "non" punishment and let the club sink or swim.
As per other threads Mr. Sawyer & Mr. Wood would be happy to come into Superleague as would Mr. Beaumont. Watsons fairy tale run was great but Superleague needs the biggest and best backed clubs to be in there.......

A fair argument in much of what you say, but Blease wants a Draft system, not to protect any players they have, but because they simply do not produce any players of their own.
They want to cherry pick at the products of all the other clubs.
