I was.
Let me tell you that THREE players were involved and they are on CCTV.
Also another player is on CCTV doing something which should see him
get a ban if not for life at least for a couple of years.

You will know then the intentions of at least one of those players ?
The one who went into the crowd to ensure that his wife and baby were safe ?
Nothing is ever black and white, nor should anyone jump to conclusions without hearing all of the points of view, something that is not going to happen here.

Thats not the point though is it, the point is that if there were less stewards per supporter last night and something HAD kicked off then those stewards would have been even less able to contain the problem.
Having demonstrated their inability to control an aggresive situation within a small crowd once I would have thought that they may have increased security rather than decreased it ?

Not really. From what I can see, it's just a simple case of the game being abandoned after a certain time so the result stands according to the laws of the game rather than Queens being kicked out for fighting.

There is more intelligence of known and potential trouble causers for
football matches. Contigencey plans can then be put place so the Police
and security can deal with any incidents that might occur. For a stadium
the size of the Keepmoat this could cost up to £10,000 per game.
Not many SL clubs could manage that never mind Doncaster.
There has never been any trouble at Doncaster like this before and I
hope I never see anything like this again.
There is no reason to even expect trouble like this from RL supporters.
You could probably count on one hand the amount of times a RL game
has been abandoned because of crowd trouble since 1895.
It was a sad day for RL not just Doncaster.

Yes, I had heard that, but it's on CCTV anyway so they'll know what
occured.
I still think you are playing Devil's advocate.
We'll wait for the inquiry conclusions. I'll leave it at that.

I meant it in the sense that the stupidity of their supporters in getting the game abandoned means that they lost the chance of winning which effectively means that the fighting lost them the chance to progress

| I can work out for myself that their was trouble in the crowd but I have no idea of what actually happened.
Surely an amateur club doesn't have that many fans and it would have to be a fair set to for a game to be abandoned?!

| ARKEL I was also at the Donny Rovers game last night. I agree with u on the stewards in the home area. But did you see how many stewards were in the away end.
There were almost as many stewards as qpr fans. (OK Slight exaggeration!!! but plenty in there) Dont forget in Football there is segregation and its easier to stick stewards where the away fans are.
Plus at football there are always police outside the ground on standby to come into the stadium at a flash of a hat.
We were very fortunate on saturday that South Yorks police were able to scramble a quick force together when they took the call from the keepmoat for assistance

Just did a quick sum that's all.
10.000 crowd, 200ish stewards - 1 steward per 50 people.
On Saturday the crowd was 600 and I was lead to believe
there was about 25 staff on duty - 1 steward per 24 people.
But it is the Police presence that makes the difference but also
makes costs prohibitive.

After 30 odd years in the 'Keeping the Peace' Business. I can tell you now that the guys who carry out the Stewarding at The Keepmoat or the average Joe Steward at any ground could not have controlled the situation. It was a very serious Public order situation and the charges that may well follow, will, I am sure reflect that. No place for it anywhere in this Land never mind a Rugby league game.

To be fair, it is Hull's fault that Thackery did play.
Hull, like all clubs, will employ a football secretary that is responsible for player registration documents and informing the coaching staff as to who is / isn't registered for a given fixture.
Whether the RFL did/should have procedures in place which would have stopped Thackery (or any ineligible player) from taking the field is another matter although personally, I don't think that it's the RFL's job to supervise club employees.

| Good call why should the Dons be punnished for the actions of Foul mouthed and abusive Queens fans, The Keepmoat Stadium security isn't the Dons responsibility as they don't own the Stadium any fine against the Dons would be very unjust, Queens should be banned from the CC for 5 years and the RFL should look at taking action against the firm that owns the Keepmoat/provides the security.

I'm guessing the RFL have a ruling that clubs are responsible for controlling their fans. The RFL will punish Doncaster if they see fit not the Keepmoat owners/security firm and if the Dons want to try to recoup any fine that may arise from them it would make an interesting test case.

I think that the bottom line is, it's Doncaster's responsibility to make sure that the policing of the game is adequate. I imagine someone will be asking for their risk assessment.
On previous, similar occasions, the host club has been punished, because policing of the game is their responsibility, and individual fans involved, if they can be identified. The away club has no responsibility, I think.
