Just to add a couple more options Catalancs, if you're near the Cathedral then Flaherty's (same chain as one in Barcelona) is a cavernous Sky Sports pub literally right next to it. Watched the NRL Grand Final in there a few years ago, and they have two Sky feeds IIRC so will usually try and keep everyone happy. My own preference though is this place: www.texmexsportsbar.com Again its a stone's throw from the Giralda, but on a little side street so less touristy and better prices. Smaller than the other two, but loads of screens. The landlord is an Irishman and the if its the same bar staff a 'musho Betis' comment will have endear you to them straight away. If its the Friday night game they'll almost certainly put the RL on, and it used to be 10euro all you can drink Bud on a Friday night if you fancy a spot of alcohol poisoning. Its usually fairly quiet, but will be full of American college girls later on Fri / Saturday nights.

Cheers FireWire. Went into Flaherty's when I went down there a couple of months ago and they put the rugby on no problems.
Will definitely try the Tex Mex sports bar next time.

gonna manchester for the weekend nxt week for salford v hull fc ( were in best place for the wigan v leeds match ) on friday nite in manny town centre

Lass O’Gowrie is excellent and central, has aloads of real ales etc, if that's what you're after, will likely have the game on, it's more of a traditional sort of pub.

Or for a guarantee the games on, there's a Walkabout right in the centre near the opera house, definitely has it on, and loads of screens

The Terrace is your best bet. Has loads of screens,and that's where I'll probably head to watch it. Everywhere else is likely to just have the Bolton v United game on. Terrace is only place that will definitely have the rugby on too.

I had a bit of a look back in this thread and found Bootham Tavern mentioned. I gave them a call and they said they would definitely have it on.

Ye the Bootham Tavern is alright, just tends to njot have sound on, and has a massive Leeds bias, with shirts etc hung up. Also tends to be a bit full of RU idiots. It's cheaper that The Terrace, but that is about all it has over it really

Fira? Not a great place towatch any sport from what I could gather, only spent a day there though. There is an Irish bar called Murphy's that has a big screen, stupidly expensive though but will prbably have it on. Otherwise Highlander bar is Scottish and shows sport, not the greatest bar I've been to though. Best I can do there sorry!

Where on the island are you staying? If you are in Kamari or Perissa then you'll have no problems watching it. I was there last year and there were a few bars off the main strip advertising the RL. You might struggle in Oia or Fira however.

Let me know if you need any more info, we did a fair bit of travelling around the island while we were there. We're off to Kefalonia this year.

This coming weekend Chorley Panthers are taking part in a 9s tournament in Belfast.Unfortunately it clashes with Magic weekend.

Where in Belfast are you staying? The city centre?

I lived in N Ireland for 3 years, and although there isn't a big natural appetite for Rugby League, neither is there an in-built anti-league policy unlike some union dominated places. I suppose that's because Union isn't actualy that massive there either.

Anyway back to the point... There are a few nice pubs in the city-centre which show Sky Sports. The problem is that they will ALL show football ahead of any other sport, be that League or Union so there's not much chance of getting your wish if the timings clash.

Don't wear any replica shirts as I think they are banned in most places as they typically represent sectarianism of one sort or another (certainly don't wear a Rangers or Celtic shirt!!!)... however it's a nice friendly city-centre and I'm sure that most places will be glad to help if they can accommodate your request.

Try the Crown Liquor Saloon opposite the Europa hotel, that's quite nice, or McGraths (google it). There's also a nice place next to the car park of the Castle Court shopping centre, and Rockie's sports bar is in the Odyssey complex in the titanic quarter.

The best bet is to start at City Hall and work your way outwards... however don't venture into the suburbs - they're safe enough but there's still the odd narrow-minded eejit (from both sides of the fence) who might spout off at you once he's had a few pints of Harp or Tennants.

In Manchester for the weekend going to see Peter Kaye. We are staying cenral Manchester, i know Man city are at home but i want to find a pub showing Hull v quins game at same time, will it be easy to find or anyone got any suggestions?

This saturday I would say your chances are pretty slim (Champions League final) but for friday night I think you might have a bit of luck, some German Sky boxes have the english channels, so if you can find a pub with a 'sky' sign outside it then you might have a chance, failing that there's an Irish pub on Stavendamm, which is south of the town hall near the river, which will probably show it. (if you ask)
