After watching the Boxing Day game back again I agree. Pratt imo was the best back on the pitch. Handled Sivo well, chased back and plugged gaps and made some good runs. Didn’t miss a single tackle. Very impressive for a young lad and like you I really would like to see him in SL.
I can see him nailing down that left centre position.

I agree with both of you, I also thought Cam showed up well on Boxing Day too, he's got a fair bit of power and aggression and can make space for his winger.

I feel the only part of his game we haven’t seen much of is him putting his winger away but as a young lad in his first season he was right to keep his game simple.
One thing that I notice is how assured he looks. He plays like an experienced head on young legs and seems to make good reads and decisions. That’s very rare in a young player.
Still at SL level he will have to up the notch again. But I’m confident he can in the 40+ games I’ve seen of him.

| The only stumbling block I see to Pratt is his size. The lads clearly talented, and played really well last year. Just hope this doesn’t hold him back as for a centre he is pretty small

He is small compared to a lot but he's as tough as old boots and doesn't lack heart.
I think he'll thrive in SL

Have to agree, he’s very broad across the shoulders and quite stocky. Defensively I actually think it gives him an advantage. Hes certainly got some strength behind him so I don’t see it as an issue either.

Same. He's not as tall as some but he's not small. He's powerful.

No doubting his ability/ heart etc. I really like him and really hope he does the business for us next year in SL. More of an observation than trying to be negative about the lad. The fact that the majority of centres in SL/ NRL are 6 feet 1-2 plus he goes against the grain. Looking forward to seeing him hopefully excel

I’d personally say he’s fairly small compared to the majority of SL/NRL centres, but that’s just my opinion and observation. It is what it is I really like the lad and hope he has a stormer of a year, more to the game than just size.

Yeah I appreciate it wasn't a negative comment-tbh I haven't heard a negative comment about the lad.
We're very lucky to have some very promising youngsters on the books and he's one of them.

Had Wood in his pocket last night did Pratt. The lad doesn’t take any prisoners. I like Hall but Pratt has had two strong performances.

I’ll happily swallow humble pie on the size comment regarding Pratt, he was brilliant last night against a huge experienced centre. On that viewing it’s his to lose for sure. It was lovely seeing Jowitt carve through the cas line also, hopefully a sign of things to come.

Our halfbacks and forward play lends itself to the old Melbourne move with a run from Smith, inside to Cronk who then brought Slater on the inside again at speed.
Needs to be fast hands but I reckon that's us now.

I remember we had such a move when we played Wigan away many seasons ago. I believe it was the game when we had Henry Paul playing for us. The scrum half broke from the scrum to the right passing to the stand off who reversed the play putting Steve Diamond through the gap.

I don't think Henry Paul and Steve Diamond ⁸played for us at the same time mate

| I guess time diminishes and confuses the memory but I do remember it was Steve Diamond in this particular game.

Calm down a bit, we beat a very poor Cas team in a preseason friendly

If I remember correctly it was during the Ray Batten era when we had Steve Tinker, Adrian Barwood, Topliss, Agar, Juliff, Diamond and co. Loads of genuine pace couples]d with some masterful creative rugby brains

It's just a move. It doesn't mean I think we are Melbourne.
I just think the players we have can make it work as their skills lend themselves to that move.

Yes that would be Topliss and Agar doing the trickery behind the scrum to release whoever. Remember it well.

He only played fullback as cover. He was centre mostly with Sheard and then Midgeley playing FB when he was here.
We are getting a bit off topic from rumours thread.
Happy to open another if you want to keep going.
