| Quote ="RescuedBlue"I will have been about 11/12 when I ran onto the pitch and got Colin Maskill's headband after an evening game in the late 80's
When I say headband though, it was actually blue masking tape. It had lost its sticky, had dirt and hair in it, and was a bit crushed
But guess what, I had that headband on my head as I packed down in the scrum for a schoolboys match a few days later! It kept slipping down my face and I'm sure any spectators must have thought it was a piece of litter that had found its way onto my face whilst I was being tackled or something'"
Quality! That's proper the sort of fan worship that you only really have as a nipper!
I can vividly remember thinking of RL players of any 'pro' club as being a good few steps above 'god-like' status...my old dear often reminds me of the time I stood litterally open mouthed when Lee Crooks walked passed us pushing his Mrs. trolley in ASDA!

| Brilliant sevens competitions in the summer. Salford winning them with a team that included Watkins, Hesketh, Charlton, Dixon, Fielding, Richards, etc.

| On the coach coming off the M1 at Staple's Corner at about 1.00 a.m. of a Monday morning after a game at Workington or Whitehaven, looking at the blocks of flats with only one or two lights still on and thinking 'I've done something this weekend - have you lot?'.

so what memory stands out for you - try and keep this serious-ish as it will be interesting to see what fans of different clubs/eras/generations come up with...........away ya go !'"
When Hudds were called Baracuders and played before double figure crowds, they were the days. Mind they still do play before double figure crowds when the away support is a bit thin.

yes i forgot about that, the fact that we still play in a ramshackled dump in front of a few hardy souls whilst wakefield have sinced moved on with their thousands of supporters attending games in droves in a state of the stadium

| Standing near the tunnel at the Boulevard, waiting for the ref's whistle outside the changing rooms to signal the players were on the way out, and then the clattering of boots on the concrete floor.
Watching the players make their way down to the pitch at Odsal stadium, it seemed like an eternity.

| Millions of years ago (late 1980's) aged about eleven, stood pitchside at Thrum Hall as a scrap kicked of on the pitch involving half the pack, me screaming "smack 'im Dicko" just as the 2 coppers in attendance at the game walk past. My timing has never been great, but I was asked to calm down by one of them and I did. A little. Dicko smacked him though.

Ah yes - David Watkins and John Helm. Classic. My fave Scrumdown "episode" is the one of Halifax giving Cas a lesson in Rugby League at Wheldon Road (i know - it's a rarity!). Les Holliday and Bob Grogan ripping up the defence. Great stuff.

| Marching bands
Climbing over the bog walls to snick in and being chased by one of Britain's worse serial Killers.
Rushing onto the field to get players tie ups.
Getting autographs
The cascade of p155 running the full length of 3d stand .
The smell of woodbine.
