That would make four (4) ex-Wigan players now at Catalans: Samuel Tomkins, Michael McIlorum, Lewis Tierney, and Thomas Davies.

In terms of the winger positions this will create a fierce competition for two spots between Tierney, Davies, and the Frenchman Fouad Yaha. Should Tierney and Davies be selected to play in the same match, with Tomkins at full back, it would generate an all ex-Wigan back three for Catalans.

This is a good depth creating move by Steven McNamara and Bernard Guasch.

Matthew Smith was released on loan to Warrington in August on a deal that was only until the end of the 2019 season. He may still be under contract with the Catalans. However in reality, given that Catalans have just signed Joshua Drinkwater and James Maloney to play in the halves, Matthew's days at Catalans are surely numbered.

I would not be surprised if Matthew Smith soon is released by Catalans to play for one of the lesser Super League clubs, or even in the Championship.

You are probably right, although the Gold Coast Titans are also interested in trying to get Latrell. West's Tigers would be a stronger team than the Titans, but the Gold Coast is closer to Latrell's family in Taree I think.

Toronto were allegedly interested in Holmes, so now that they have missed out on him, expect Toronto to press harder to try to sign England RU centre Tuilagi.

With Latrell Mitchell it does. He has been listening to the troublemaker Anthony Mundine. Latrell could have stayed with the Roosters, who had groomed him and supported him when he had psychological problems, but he has little sense of loyalty. They offered him $800,000 a year, which is a fair price given his inconsistent form. The club that signs him for $1 million a year may come to regret it later.

You could no doubt say the same if Toronto pushed on to sign Tuilangi. His injury record isn’t great and it’s a trend that could continue if he signed over the pond.
