wakefield and quins both look light on paper while the crusaders will be hampered with -4 points as will wakefield,i really see it been pretty tight in the middle of the table and it will come down to injuries and the bounce of the ball has their is very little between hudds, hull, hkr, cas, bradford, salford and catalans the top 4 picks its self and while wigan are obviously on the up as are wire leeds and saints look to be going through a rebuilding process but both still have bundles of talent.

For me HKR's season hinges on Dobson and Green linking up well. As great as I think Murrell is the reports I got from the Huddersfield game was that once he's settled he'll be a real class player.'"
I meant, Mason could be what pushes you up the table and give the bit extra than the rest of the middle order. Even with him, I can't see you threatening Wigan or Wire, they've still got more class. Maybe Leeds or Hudds??? To be honest I'd take O'Donnell or Hoffman over Mason!!! There's a chance he'll go well against the lesser teams, but I'd expect the top four/five sides to close him down too quickly for him to cause any problems. I only say this becuase of what I've seen. He needs to turn up in mind and body, otherwise he'll end up a target for the oppositions defence.

It's too early to say.
From how Potter has talked about Briggs, it sounds like he will get his chance and IF he performs well, he can have the spot.
For the first few games I'd expect to see both Kearney & Briggs used there.

You don't think we've improved at all on last year?
The biggest one for me is bringing in Potter. We now have a decent coach for the first time in 4 years.
1. Sheriffe Out : Raynor, Ainscough In
2. Nero Out : Walker, Ah Van in
3. Orford out : Herbert, Briggs in
4. Menzies, Hall, Worrincy Out : Elima, Sibbit In
5. Godwin Out : Diskin In
6. Danny Sculthorpe out : Bryn Hargreaves In
7. Royston In
1, 2, 5 & 6 Will all massively improve our squad.
3 - Orford if fit would make any side alot better, but he didn't want to play for us and was injured for half the season. 2 young halves who are eager sounds a good proposition to me.
4 - Menzies is a loss, but Potter decided another year would be too much. Elima will be a good signing, I won't say replacement as nobody can replace the Beaver, but he will do well. Sibbit will be a squad player, and a much better one than Worrincy. Hall was dire last season and it gives us a quota spot to play with if anyone comes available. Add to that Whitehead, Donaldson, Addy & Olbison all a year more developed and we look stronger. (You should watch out for Whitehead - he'll make even bigger waves in SL this year)
7 - More back up which we lacked when the injuries came last season.

Totally agree a good Willie Mason improves any team, likewise a lacklustre one is a strain on HKR's finances however I honestly do not think Neil Hudgell is one to accept someone on a large salary taking it easy.
O'Donnell and Hoffman are quality players no doubt about that and have been playing at the right end of the NRL however the game plans Morgan has been putting into his SL campaigns will suit Mason and for this reason I think he'll show up just as well as those two (fingers crossed).

I agree. Bradford will be far better this year. I think Gareth Raynor is one of the most underrated wingers ever in SL. It's just a shame he's been so injury prone (and his off-field behaviour in the last couple of years the most disappointing). I look forward to seeing Shaun Ainscough getting a good go as well. He showed some promise at the start of his career, but had some weaknesses that cost him a place in the team (Goulding pushing him out of the pecking order, Roberts as a good back up and Richards is the MOS so was never gonna get much of a chance at Wigan).
Can't see them not making the play-offs personally. Especially under Potter.

| I really don't rate Leeds' chances at getting the SL title at all this year. They were poor for large chunks of last year, have some key injuries going into this year, will be unsettled with the arrival of a new coach in strange circumstances (and a coach with an extremely poor record at his last club at that, and no proven good track record really).

I think it'll be close from 1st to 4th, even closer from 5th to 12th with 1 or 2 games probably deciding the outcome. Whilst Bradford have strengthened so have Salford, Huddersfield & Hull KR. I also think the halves will be an issue for Bradford still and may still cost you a couple of games.
Like I said though it's going to be close. I could see Bradford finishing anywhere from 12th up to around 3rd or 4th.'"
I'll return the favour, by saying I agree with all of that too, other than to substitute "may" for "will" regarding the halves.
If you are right in your general conclusion, its going to be one hell of an exciting season.

| Rather easy for me, Wigan will win the league by a street.
Warrington / Saints for the 2/3 spot.
Leeds, Hull Kr Hull FC and Bradford 4-7.... Salford and Cas fight for 8th
Wakefield bottom, Out of SL, And facing a tough battle to return in 3 years time with Halifax likely to place a bid too

| It will be the "most open Superleague EVER"
Once again the Sky team will say this and once again it will not be.
I really look forward to the day it is and it will be really difficult to decide who will win.
Hopefully a year or two after the next round of franchises and the retirement of kolpaks etc..

Would agree with the groups. Not the order though!
Catalans could go either way. Depends on how the new coach settles in.

'New coach syndrome' could shape the league. Quins will be worse off without McDermott, as will Crusaders without Noble and Leeds could go either way, back to the top or crumble. But Saints and Catalans could get a 'Smith/Maguire' affect and turn them around.

Title challengers- spot on. Saints have the best pack and baring stupid injuries (last year) will steam roll this year. Slow start- dominant end to regular season. Wire have improved 2 fold with a couple of select changes. Wigan are the scalp to get this season and don't look as dominant as Leeds did.
nearly men- well off
Hudds
Leeds
Hull
hull KR
So Leeds was right. Hudds are gaining momentum every year. Have a lovely squad and will really be going for t next year. Also, they know HOW TO win. Big victories against Wigan and Wire towards the end. Leeds are in decline. Hull has a better team on paper, you can't ignore that. Hull KR could be in with a shout, good team. Don't really know how to win
Battle for eighth is alright- very contentious issue.
Salford- General patten and big fat feka will add leadership and bite that could get them over the finish line
Bradford- total overhaul and a new good coach. Difficult to tell but i am optimistic of a result.
Castleford- Big hit in the off season, losing great players but the halves look good and they could do well
Catalans- menzies should be great for them and they could do very well
Cru cru- don't look good especially starting from behing.
Wooden spoon-
probab;y right although i might reverse them.

Huddersfield will struggle without a recognised full back. Like us being one step away from being a great team, Mathers wasn't class, as Scott Griz isn't. Also no replacement for Whatuira last year and have replaced Lolesi with a relative unknown. Think Huddersfield will still be strong (and very VERY physical with Fa'alongo and O'Donnell knocking spots off teams)
Personally think Hull FC will struggle a touch, no replacement for Berrigan and hardly the most durable of half backs, I've had tougher steaks than Richard Horne, cant see him making 20 games never mind the 35 you may require to be a great team.
Biggest improvers have to be Salford, get dads army to gel together, they will have a strong and mobile pack, with a potential genius in Holdsworth at 6. then best of the rest of Ratchford and Smith to partner him. Genuine no1 and pace in the backs with Broughton, Gibson and Tyrer. Just hope McRea doesnt over cook it and try to through 3 half back on at the same time aswel as a lightweight hooker in Godwin, pick 2 and stick with it

Leeds will struggle this year. They won't be helped by the fact they have the worst coach in Superleague either.
I'm excited to see how Hull KR get on this year. They could be a top 4 side and I'm confident that if Mason ever comes they will finish higher than Hull FC as well.
