There have been 20 pages of debate, during which nobody has said that Provident are some kind of wonderful paragon of virtue. But the hypocrisy displayed by many of those criticising the deal is astounding. The moral outrage expressed by some on this thread is pathetic, especially considering their complete and utter lack of outrage or criticism for their own club with similar deals.

Dboy and others have been asked many times to come up with a list of "acceptable businesses" and have been challenged on their support of their own club whilst criticising this deal, they couldn't answer those points and so either slinked off the thread or tried to portray themselves as the victim of some kind of bullying or abuse, despite accusing people on the other side of the argument of various kinds of lack of morality or decency.

Then when they've run out of ammunition b[ii[/itch and whine.

A long-established large FTSE-250 company is in no way "dodgy", whether or not it engages in an activity you disapprove of. If Provident is "Dodgy" then many would deem the means by which your bankrolled-club's owner came by his wealth to be likewise. But, as all the world has seen, you are careful not to blast HIM in the same way. And I would blast neoither, since they are both putting money into a game starved of income.

You are right about it being "End of Argument" though; you lost the argument ages ago. If you want to pursue your marxist crusade against capitalism, that's your right; but do it on your own time, eh? Most folk on these forums (apart from those of the Wakey crew who seem to have gained an unhealthy and unpleasant obsession with Bradford, seemingly because of perceived unfairness in how THEY feel they were treated) seem prepared to accept that money coming into the game from a new source, and one of the largest businesses in the land to boot, can on balance only be a good thing.

Now, back to important matters. It would have been embarrassing had the penalty been given and Bradford gone on to win. Perverse referreing notwithstanding, we should never have got into that position in the first place. And had our lot been so certain it WAS a voluntary tackle, no-one would have laid hands on him so it would have been obvious to even the official that it was indeed voluntary. If you look back, any time the VERY dodgy way a certain Huddersfield chairman got his money is brought up, Durham Giant ignores that person completely.
