| I would say he should retire when he isn't one of the 4 best props at national team level.
Right now, that is not the case. I'm sure he has an added value of experience for the young kids at England level too so i would neither drop him, nor expect him to retire.

| I think that early collision with Moi Moi left a mark with Mozza on Saturday and maybe made him feel unwell.
He will be back up and firing next Saturday against the Aussies.

| Why should he have to retire, if he is good enough he gets picked if not he doesn't, that is really down to the coach.

Im a Hull FC fan and think both Morley and Peacock should retire after next week. Ive said elsewhere, we looked a better team with those 2 off the pitch on Saturday.

Indeed - I'm a little surprised the lack of impact from the skipper in this tournament hasn't drawn more comment. Arguably England's fourth most effective front rower IMO.

If you think Jamie Peacock has been operating in this tournament as a wide running second rower then there's only one clueless one and it isn't Tony Smith.

I am trying to look at the future. For years most RL fans have been ssaying we need to bring new talent through. we seem to have done it in the halves, dont have too many backs to mix up but we need to think about the future with the forwards.
Morley will not be around forever and if England are to do well we need to have a good selection of forwards we can call on.
I do think that the next World Cup is vital for the game in this country. Morley will not be around for that. Between then and now there will only be 8 to 12 top quality international games for new players to earn their spurs. ( playing wales and France does not really count yet). Therefore we need to be blooding players against the likes of NZ and Australia.
I like Morley a lot but you need to be pragmatic. I would like him to retire after saturday. So that in next years four nations we will have Peacock as the experienced player, Burgess and Graham as regular internationals. Crabtree as a rookie and then bringing the likes of Lynch, LMS ,Carvell or others through so that come the world cup we will have a selection of SEASONED and EXPERIENCED International players to call upon.

| Quote ="Durham Giant"Is it time for Adrian Morley who has been one of my favourite players ever to retire from test rugby. ?
he IMHO is not the fearsome player that he once was and maybe age and too many big games has caught up with him.
I would like to see him retire after next weeks final with the 4 nations winners trophy as his swansong.
this would extend his club career but also allow the new breed of props to come through to get the experience which will allow us to build a strong team for the next world cup.
time to hand over the mantle to Graham, Burgess and Big Eorl.
Which other props might be able to make the step up in the next 2 - 3 years.
i reckon Mossop at wigan will mov eto prop and could be a dark horse as a future prop with maybe Andy Raleigh doing the same thing.'" but he is old. he won last week. he is being picked.

Stop changing international teams like socks might be a start.
As it is he's had a friendly against a team he would have been playing for anyway had he not swapped and had less game time than he would have had. He made his bed, let him lie in it.
Good enough for him I say.

Lose a few pounds, the fat git!
On a serious note he does appear a bit heavy footed IMO, and would be an obvious target for the smaller guys around the ruck (I assume this is the reason Smith leaves him out).

Yes and he will be 33 and a half by next years 4 nations.. For someone who has in theirt sig the best way to predict the future is to create the future yiou seem to have a very shortsighted view.
we need to bring some new props through to take us forward for the next five years. How can that be done when Morley and Peacock occupy the positions with Graham, Burgess and crabtree occupying the other positions. Do we just keep playing them and then get to the end of next season have a COUPLE OF INJURIES and then have to bring in a couple of inexperienced players at the last minute..

You pick your best available side for the challenge in front of you.
If there are better England qualified props out there than Morley and Peacock they will get their opportunities much as Crabtree has this year. Games against the Aussies and Kiwis are not the arena in which you start picking players just to see whether they are good enough or not, particularly at a time when you are trying to re-establish some international credibility.

| Just because we're building for the next world cup and the future in general that doesn't mean just totally clearing the decks of anybody over the age of 30. We have a young side and i'm sure the likes of Burgess, Tomkins, Shenton, Crabtree etc find playing in these games alot easier with Morley and Peacock by their sides. They are on hand both on and off the pitch to give them the guidance they need.
The Aussies haven't dumped Lockyer, Civoniceva or Price(he'd have been selected if fit) because they've gone over the age of 30 and aren't at their peaks anymore. They realise what these guys bring to the side away from their actual playing abilites.
Morley is a leader and would be in my 17 for aslong as he see's fit. He's not the type of guy to go on too long and start letting the side down. He's earned the right to call the shots imo.

Bang on Morley has been terrific this season. When steve Kearney came to Hull he was not mom every game but his presence in the team and at the club is still felt to this day (and missed). This pack is one of the best in living memory im old enough to remember many embarasing results against the Aussies my advice is get behind them and enjoy it, this week could be history in the making.

Props go longer than other positions, look at Price and Cinnovaceva. The general selection is to take 4 props to a game - we are currently taking 2 older, 1 very young and one around the middle. Suggesting dropping Morley (who was an absolute Man Mountain when I saw him for the Wire this year) is ridiculous. He could also still be doing the business next year when the Internationals come round and even the year after.
He's also the most experienced player we have when it comes to actually competing with Aussies at RL.

| I cant believe this discussion, without Morley and Peacock to guide the kids in the pack we would be lost, no disrespect to burgess etc but these two are hard battled and respected in world rugby and are fantastic leaders no one will f**k with us while they are still playing, the pack is quality with the mixture of superb youth and experiance
