Where in the rules does it say how many fingers have to have in the ball for it to be deemed pressure?

Ridiculous. Ignoring the deciding decision for a moment, the referees handling of the ruck was a joke. Australia were able to tackle twice or three times and he wouldn't give a penalty. Utterly corrupt, nothing else you can say.

Tell you what it's a try. Conclusive evidence that it was grounded and its ignored. England should refuse to play against New Zealand. Cheating by match officials, if Hall plants it with the Palm they'd give him offside instead.

How the f*ck do we contrive to lose that game? Dominant for long periods and a couple of lapses have killed us. The less said about that bent twunt with the whistle the better. He's an utter joke and the referee & video ref should be hung, drawn and quartered for that spineless display. Blatant cheating of the worst order.

God awful decision at the end. He was the VR and had all the time in the world and he guessed at it and got it wrong.

At least we had neutral refs so that any controversial decisions deciding the match from a home official didn't make the game look ridiculous and amateur.

We didn't contrive to lose it, the officials did that for us

because it would have meant a draw or an England win and made superstar GI look human.

Am I right in saying we only got 1 penalty in the 2nd half, and that was from the VR for obstruction on the disallowed Inglis try?

Furious with that decision, they knew that giving that try would put Australia out of the competition and they bottled it.

I'm appalled both by the VR decision and the general reffing display in that second half.

International league is dead and buried as long as rubbish like this continues to be allowed to happen.

As low as I've been watching the game this. It's simply not acceptable.

We should never have let them dominate us to that extent in the second half and we should have been out of sight, it's like boxing in Germany, we couldn't afford to let it go to the judges decision because if we did it would go against us.

Have a look at the match stats, the second rows again made no yards at all.

at least we're arguing over a reffing decision and not why we got belted by 40+ again.

We had to defend 10 more sets than Australia in the second half. And our completion wasn't even that bad. Not one penalty.

We got the one for the GI obstruction disallowed try, which came from a soft penalty to Aus for holding which went unseen as the hopeless TV coverage was showing O'L stood on the side line. We then pushed them back in a scrum to win against the head which the ref called as a collapsed scrum.

I didn't get over excited about the Hall last minute try as I just couldn't see them giving it & potentially kicking Aus out of the tournament. If Hall had immediately celebrated I think it could have made the decision.

Yes. It was a robbery of a decision (when was the last time an Aussie official making a call on a MASSIVE decision against Australia bucked the trend?) - but let's not miss the obvious truth that our halves were completely outplayed in the second half.

Also, our forwards did not exercise its physical advantage in defence. Should have smashed them every tackle.
