I thought you were a pie man. I’m missing my pre match pie and pint, I think I’m losing weight.

| Quote ="Dunkirk Spirit"Just thought I’d throw up another idea, as nothing else happening at the moment. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that games will have to be played behind closed doors, MC saying on Forty20, about streaming costing about £20,000. Would not really be cost effective. He used the example of 5,000. Fans paying £5.= £25,000. Vat £5,000, so there’s nothing left. If we had 6 games streamed over Saturday and Sunday at one venue, Streaming cost of £40,000. For 2days dividend by 12 clubs = less than. £3.400.
I’m sure the 12 clubs between them, can muster say 100,000 viewers paying £10. =£1,000,000. For the good of the game, divided equally that’s over £83,000 per club.
I’m sure some on this forum will be able to pick large holes in this idea, but it’s just an idea to start a discussion, perhaps it’s just rubbish, perhaps it can be developed into something that could work. My opening post weeks ago on this thread has since been suggested by others involved in the our sport. We all need to work together for our rugby league sport to survive.
Thank you'"
I like the idea, and don't want to be pessimistic but I suspect that the "Big" clubs would challenge the equal sharing of revenue. Realistically we'd be supplying maybe 4 or 5 thousand of those viewers, whereas Leeds/Wigan/Hull might all be supplying double those amount of viewers and so would demand a much larger share of revenue.
I still think this is the right way to do it, and as you say Sky's setup costs are minimised by utilising a single venue so there is more to be made, just don't think it would be as much as you've suggested or that we would command an equal share of it.

Human nature being what it is, as you say greed will kick in and those alleged big clubs will expect more, but surely a bit of something is far better than a lot of nothing, after all if the smaller clubs don't agree then it's all academic anyway.

As far as Sky are concerned, they wouldn't be bothered where the viewers came from and let's face it, EVERY SL club will want their slice of Sky monies so, it's the broadcaster that holds all the cards.
If RL cant find a way of getting the games "on", nobody gets a penny.
Rental of the stadia could cost a fair bit and on that basis, Belle Vue could be the place it's a great playing surface

| Quote ="wrencat1873"This probably wouldn't be possible but, if the games were all played at one venue (Magic Weekend style) behind closed doors, streaming costs, surely, would be far lower and Sky could still show all of the games.
Find a central venue and bingo.
If this were twice a week to get over the fixture backlog, then fair enough.'"
Great in principle but in reality logistics geography social distancing would all come into play.Logistics would include several hundred staff, accommodation, travel medical support Health and Safety etc.
Geography include all the above possibly consider the same venue but then what about player isolation etc.
Social distancing and quarantine looks a bit of a big issue even with testing which would have to be daily given the incubation time and also the potential for those that carry the virus but show no symptoms. Given the fact that there is no working anti body test it will be difficult.
It's not impossible but it's not easy, then other issues to consider are the players and all others involved and contact with families.
Glad it's not my headache

I would suggest Headingley.
Its fairly central, has been refurbed and they could use the facilities "next door" at the cricket ground for players and staff etc including the cricket outfield for warm up sessions.

If it was a goer, it would need to be somewhere central and available, with a decent amount of changing facilities.
Any constraints in warm up areas etc would at least be the same for all sides.
Ideally, it should be a venue which is neutral for all sides and somewhere well suited to TV requirements.
Even somewhere like Dewsbury or Leigh may be ok ?

I dont think a neutral venue makes that difference.
I suggested Headingley as it would be large enough for several teams and using the cricket facilities.
Dont think Dewsbury or Leigh could cope with the numbers.

Excellent venue and given the circumstances, if it were to happen would make it the most obvious choice.
