I think Clarke was just trying to emphasise what a good job Watson has done at Salford, he says daft things at times, he’s human. As a neutral I hope it’s a great game tonight, and as Salford are the underdogs hope they can do it, as a previous poster has said, they have been a breath of fresh air.

Phil Clarke's approach is make outrageous predictions that never come off, but when one does it makes him look like a genius. He sits there like a disinterested dummy until he gets to spout his overexcited nonsense, then he goes quiet again, like someone has switched him off again.

Yep. A few years back he used to focus on the stats a bit more and i preferred that. But now like you say he just says daft things while rarely being able to hide his Wigan bias.

By the way there’s nothing wrong with having someone on with a bias toward one team. I’m sure Carney wants Wigan to succeed just as much as Clarke and I’m sure Jon Wells wants Cas to succeed but you rarely get any hint of that in their analysis or observations.

Really, and why care? The team that's scored more points after 80 minutes, wins, end of. If so and so wants one team to win it doesn't count for anything, as it will have no bearing on the result.

It will be a major shock if a team that is totally dependent on four Antipodeans can beat a classy outfit like St. Helens.

Remember, that whoever wins will have to face the might of the Sydney Roosters in February. On that day a Salford team which would be without Jackson Hastings would be mince meat at the end of 80 minutes, and an embarrassment for British rugby league. So those who care about the international game, and the reputation of the British game, should be praying for a St. Helens victory.
