Certainly not me. I thought they'd really struggle once they got some injuries with their lack of depth but they've managed to avoid anything serious and have just looked a really well coached side, with that bit of class you need, plus they've played some excellent RL along the way. Well done Salford.

| Congratulations to Salford, really pleased for their fans...
Haven't had a dream in a long time
Cas fans should be proud of the effort their team has put in this year, considering the club's injury problems.

| Well done Salford, was certain they'd finish in the bottom 4. Even when they were doing okay, but then Robert Lui went to Leeds, they just got even better. Hopefully it will be a Saints v Salford final.

| Quote ="JEAN CAPDOUZE"The Salford players and fans should enjoy themselves tonight. This will be their last easy victory. Next week they will face a serious rugby league team -- either Wigan or St Helens, and that will be the end of the dream.

Like a bad fart, you resurface again to a chorus of gags and knowing looks.
If we lose next week it doesn't matter to us as Salford fans. We've proved the doubters wrong before the play-offs even started. Every game from the end of the season is a bonus and the fact that we get under your skin brings me great joy.
Happy Thursday night, Jean. We all really love you.

| Well done Salford. Every neutrals favourite now until the end of the season (and rightly so).
If somehow they did win it could this be compared to Leicester winning the Premier League the other year?
In RL when was the last time a team destined for relegation/2nd bottom got this close (or even won it)?

I think yes.
As a Salford fan we kinda expect to be in big games. Usually at the foot of the table.
The difference this season, for most of it, is that Watson manged to instill a massive self belief into a team of players that most other teams have discarded. Our success this season is down to Watson and a small team of dedicated individuals off the filed. We've remained fairly injury free and we're as fit if not fitter than most sides which has maintained our focused run in to the play offs. We've managed to find that intangible quality that all team sports strive for that is hard to nail down. It's self-belief, a tight-nit group, hard work, morale and making your own luck.
If we go out next week, it will be with no shame. A great season for us regardless.

| Salford have shown what can be achieved on a small budget and all credit to them. It may fall apart by next season with so many players getting off but they can just enjoy the current ride.
I don't see many of their fans or players demanding to be taken serious an established top club like others I could mention and they took care of Cas with ease tonight.
But surely their fans have better chants than constant rehashes of crap songs from yesterdays football club Man Utd!
They'll go in as underdogs but Salford have real momentum right now so Wigan or St Helens have a job on their hands next week to get past them and make the GF.

| We were lucky to get this far to be fair. Probably didn't deserve it over the season.
Salford on the other hand. I hope they go on to do 1 better than we did in 2017. It's great to see the underdog going well and that's what they are doing.
Ian Watson deserves coach of the year without doubt. He has a team of average players with a couple of good ones playing really well.
Good luck Salford!! Hope you make it to OT and win.

| Can anyone explain to me why Evaulds seemed to be running slowly until he got to him? Genuinely, I've watched it live and on replays and can't work out why he looks slower than the Cas player but gets to him. Can't decide whether it's the angle, their respective running styles or something else.

Here's another which is played over and over from the 2003 NRL Grand Final when Penrith beat the Roosters for their first GF win. The Evalds one will live in memory too!
PS I am a Penrith supporter.

I think it may just be the angle, though John Wells said that Evalds had deliberately shepherded him so as to stop him thinking of cutting back inside. This could be the reason why he looked slower initially.

And I must point out what a fantastic reception Leeds Rhinos Robert Lui got when he came over to the fans at half time a fantastic send off from the fans to the "Star Man"

| It's a free hit for Salford next week, no pressure on them at all which makes them very dangerous. Should they progress the same applies in the final. Good luck, go and enjoy it.

We love Lui at Salford as he was a great pro and a cracking player. Pretty sure we were all sad to see him leave but as it turns out it may well have been the best move for both parties. Financially the club and Lui benefitted and Lolohea also seems to have had a new lease of life.
Shame Lui hasn't been able to share in some of this current success but he's definitely contributed to where this team is today.

It's not living in Yerkshire that makes us better people.
