| Quote ="PopTart"Well if you are getting down to it there is no actual evidence of the big bang. It is a theory that answers many questions and is widely accepted because lots of evidence backs up the theory but it isn't actual evidence of the big bang.
The expansion of the universe is explained by the big bang theory rather than the expansion being evidence of it.
At least the other guys have an actual book, and I've seen loads of films. They even have the big man's face on a handkerchief! No evidence? Come on!
Big Bang admittedly has a really funny tv series but there is only one.'"
You are kind of right.
There is lots of evidence of the BB, and of the Universe continuing to expand. "We" have the scientific confidence it happened.
There are also theories of how this has led to the creation of life.
In the Millenia that follows the Apocalypse, which is surely coming, some knob is sure to find an old copy of Harry Potter and, well...you get the idea.
Let's hope they find the rules to RL before they find the rules to NaziBall. And "The Life of Brian".

You just know there is somebody somewhere who thinks Harry is the chosen one already.

As an English Literature graduate I can tell you that analysis of Blake is always problematic. There are myriad interpretations of [iJerusalem[/i. Blake was, at the same time, sceptical about the Industrial Revolution and it's affect on working people, a supporter of the French revolution, and a deeply spiritual man. All of these elements of his character are reflected in the poem. It's not a total slagging-off of Christianity. See '[iTyger[/i' for Blake's interest in the power of the almighty. What's for sure is that the Parry music transforms the poem into something far more upbeat and positive overall than would be the case with the verse on its own.'"
After my dad passed away I got a tattoo with some ver fitting Blake words
Every mortal loss is an immortal gain, the ruins of time build mansions in eternity
Very fitting. Sorry for derailing

There is no evidence of the Big Bang. It’s all theoretical.
Also, who created the supposed gas that created the Big Bang? Scientists state “it was already there”

No, the evidence for the BB (expansion of the universe), is clear, proven and accepted - this is even taught at GCSE level.
There are theories about the mechanics of the BB (where/where it happened), but no doubt that it happened.
Perhaps you can discuss it at your next Flat Earth Society meeting. Whilst you're at it at, you really should get your children vaccinated; or don't you believe in that science either?

| Quote ="Ruune Rebellion"Absolutely. Rather than believe in creationism we are supposed to believe that everything came from some supposed Big Bang which started as the size of a pin prick.
Embarrassing that people like yourself lap it up with absolutely no evidence'"
I never said owt about the Big Bang. But on that, science is constantly looking into different hypotheses and searching for evidence to prove or disprove them. So far the Big Bang is the one with most proof. But science never stops looking into different avenues. And a scientific theory is not a “theory” in the traditional meaning of the word. You have to have proven evidence for something to be allowed to be called a scientific theory.
What science doesn’t do is just go off some millennia out of date Bronze Age scaremongering tripe and saying “well it must be some god who created it all”. With absolutely no evidence other than some made up stories of made up people from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age who’ve either been visited by angels ( ) or been spoken to by some god in a burning bush or from behind a cloud in the sky ( )
As for the hymn - it talks about Jesus. There’s not once single shred of reliable nor contemporary evidence that Jesus ever existed. Not one! In a region that was the most literate area of the world at the time, in an area of the world that had censuses as well as writers and historians - this Jesus character was never recorded in one census nor written about by people alive at that time. There are countless contemporary named written sources of named individuals and their historical life stories from Scotland to Egypt at that time by Romans and many other populations. But not one of a supposed fella who healed the sick, turned water to wine, was crucified and rose from the dead. Not a single one!
And the Jesus story in its exact form goes back a lot further and in many different places than when and where he was supposed to have lived. From Horus to Krishna to Zoroaster to Dionysus to Mithra even to Jospeh (the technicolour dream coat bloke from the Old Testament)... all have the same story as Jesus. The Jesus story was plagiarised from all of them as was the last of about 25 different ones from around the world. And what all of these made up legends are, is the personification of the Sun. They are all the story of the big yellow hot dot in the sky. Simply personified myths about the Sun.
We went through enlightenment in Great Britain over 300 years ago. Abrahamic religions are total archaic nonsense. And hymns like this should be left behind where they belong and not sung at modern sporting events.

LMAO. There is no evidence for the Big Bang. It has not been proven which it’s why it’s called the Big Bang theory.
And to make things even funnier the “theory” stemmed from general relativity which with each day is being made to look stupid

Too modern to be taught when I did the old GCE. We were more into the history of the Piltdown Scull!
In those days at our school we ended every school year with a rousing rendition of Jerusalem followed by 'Gaudeamus Igitur' and finally our school song 'Fourty Years On'.

Expansion is proven.
Big Bang Theory is a popular explanation of it but isn't 'proven'. It's a theory.

| People need to learn what scientific theory means.
It is not the conventional meaning of “a theory”.
Scientific theory consists of one or more hypotheses that have been supported by repeated testing. Theories are one of the pinnacles of science and must never be shown to be wrong; if it is, the theory is disproven. Unless this happens it is accepted as fact.

| I think she should change the key word of the song to Tel Aviv just for a bit of political banter on the accepted capital of Israel. That will provoke Donald Trump to tweet about "English Rugby 'League' showing big disrespect to our friends in Israel. Sad". In turn, an American billionaire who makes sliced cheese, will think the whole sport is quaint and buy us all for hundreds of millions of pounds.
And Odsal will be transformed into the "processed cheese superdome". Zero flaws to any of this plan and you all know it.
