As a neutral the game was a really good watch but a few of Salford's calls once they went up weren't the best and they didn't play like they were in front with a 2 score lead and less than 15 minutes left. That short kick off and the Griffin flop were really costly for them, tries came off the back of each mistake, when they appeared to be in control of that game. Saints got a sniff and were all over them after that. If I was a Salford fan I'd feel robbed though after that R ref call.

Need to bin off the ref having to make a call on field for me. Reckon that would have been rightly disallowed if the ref didn't send it up as a try. If the ref needs to check then he's not 100% sure, so how can you get him to make a decision on something as important as a try when he isn't sure.
Also cant believe he actually checked the grounding when Swift tried diving for the corner. Embarrassment that neither him or the touchie could 100% say that he dropped it.

Scrap the Video Ref they are deciding where the points go too often and they are ignoring what they are seeing based on the call of the on field ref.

If the VR I’d competent he shouldn’t need a clue. They are ignoring what actually happens. This one could have been called off for either a knock on or double movement.

Hate to say it, but we need to adopt the 'Yawnion' VR method. Where the on field ref asks for a reason, not to award the try. Too many times because the on field decision is one way or the other, the VR finds a reason to back them.

I think you need to face up to the fact that it'll never happen. I've been opposed since day 1 and have lost track of how many times I've heard your point made without any sign that calls have improved in any way.

Scrap the stupid on field try no try concept. If your not sure if it’s a try send it up to the video ref to make his mind up, fgs the concept is absolutely ridiculous and is shown to be time after time!!

I dunno bro. We tried that a few years ago and the refs would send every damn call up to the video ref. It got silly!

There is nothing wrong with the ref making the on field call. The problem is that video refs won't overturn the decision when it's blatantly clear the ref got it wrong. This really does need to change!

The VR system was working perfectly well before they brought in this try/no try farce. I didn't understand the logic in making the on field ref essentially guess all the way back when it was first introduced and I still don't understand it now!
If you have a doubt over the validity of a try, why not just send it up and ask the video ref to review it??

I know what you mean. There were absolutely flaws with the old system. But like you say it needs to change and other than scrapping it completely then I dont know what else can change other than going back to simply sending it upstairs to be checked. Definitely needs to be looked at in some way though.

There was sufficient evidence for Child to disallow that try, as far as I'm concerned and it seems most people watching agree. It was clear as day that the ball came away from his control.

Personally think the simple way to improve video ref decisions is to stop them slowing it down frame by frame. You can see whatever you want to see in RL going literally frame by frame to fit in the with whatever the narrative the ref sends up with try/no try.

We tried this remember- all that happened was the refs failed to make any decisions and sent everything up to the VR resulting in 2 hour long games!

In the televised NRL and the Challenge Cup games on BBC we hear the comments by the vide ref when he makes a decision.

Yeah we cannot go back to that shambles. I just think people have forgotten how bad it was.

The solution is simple. If there is clear evidence like there was tonight, the video ref should have the confidence to over turn the on field decision.
