| Quote ="Towns88"I'm sorry and I know its hypothetical but you had a chance in August 17 to ruin our night by preventing us winning the LLS against you, you came to play that night but we still dispatched of you with relative ease so I really don't think we'd have lost the play off semi to Wakefield. Saints still had plenty of experience and talent in that side and gave us a lesson on play off rugby. We got the lesson and luckily came through it but then lost our best player 48 hours before and the rest is history.'"
Yeah its hypothetical so you can't know that can you, every day and every game are different.

| We lost twice at home in 2017, once against hull, a week before the semi final when we rested 10 players and to saint helens first game of the superb 8s. No way would we have lost to Wakefield at home. Plenty of logic to suggest saints or Leeds or even Wigan or hull had they finished 4th but not Wakefield that season.
This season they could, but a lot depends on luck with injuries as it does most sides. The top 2 do look significantly better than the rest.

This bit i'm getting sick of seeing Saints & Warrington are not miles ahead of the rest of us,There both good sides the main difference is there both consistent than the rest of us, They beat Wakey with 2 mins to go and that day with the amount of procession wakey had on there line we should have scored a lot more than we did BUT we didn't and there won so there not miles ahead just a good team.

We’re 8 points ahead of you. We’re miles better as are Warrington.

| Quote ="Fruity Muffin"Never understood this no star bit. Some were not stars when they signed but they sure are now.
Johnstone, Fifita, Tupou and Ashurst would get in any SL team. Miller, Lyne, BJB, Hampshire, Arundal, Batchelor, Arona, Kopzac and Brough would get in most. The rest right up to about no26 would get in a fair few SL teams.
Plenty of strength in depth combined with more star players than many SL teams, only Saints, Wire and Leeds (technically) have more 'stars'.
Its a bit of a myth and a touch condecending imo, how they have managed this on such a low budget I admit remains a mystery.
Can they do it? If they start to get lucky on the injury front and players return fully fit sooner rather than later then they have an outside chance though big match experience will be an issue.'"
BJB, Arundel and Kopczak are all bang average players. Some of the others you mention are close to that category also.

None of the players he mentioned would get in Saints side but that’s not the point. The point is Wakefield are a very drilled unit who are punching well above their weight.
At this stage of the season I would rather play Warrington than Wakefield

| Whilst they are playing some decent stuff and have some good players, I don't really see Wakefield as too much of a threat right now.
I see Cas as far bigger rivals than them over the season.

For a side that you feel aren't anywhere good enough to trouble Saints, you dont half go on about Wakefield.
It's either some kind of man crush, a bit like the girl who's hair you pull in the school playground or, some kind of fear ?
If you genuinely weren't bothered by Trinity, you would concentrate your efforts elsewhere.
Get back to hair pulling and passing notes under the desk, she'll soon come round

| Doesn't really matter whether they are stars or not, most of em are long term injured.
Making the top 5 is looking like a long reach given the current injury list, and not likely to improve much anytime soon.
By the time we get any semblance of a first choice squad, we'll be pretty happy to still be around mid table.
Its a stupid thread, but what do you expect, it would have at least some credence if Wakey were playing with a full deck, but they're a long way off that.

None of them. Funny that because a year ago Amor was rubbish according to ALL Saints fans and past it and needed replacing. Now you wouldn’t swap him for Fifita, you don’t half spout some crud.

| It's possible but can't see it. Seem to bottle the big pressure matches i.e. Warrington Challenge Cup semi a few years back. Top 5 still looking good but injuries may take their toll soon, but then again once bodies start coming back should have pretty much a fresh team for the back end of the season which might work in favour

| I don't think you can say we bottled it as such...if I remember rightly we were crippled with injuries (sound familiar) to the point we only had 16 'fit' players and it was a toss up between which injured player would fill the last bench spot and Danny Kirmond put his hand up in a game he should never have played....
Just looking at some of the names in that 17 shows how far we've come as a squad...no disrespect meant but a back three of Jason Walton, Anthony Tupou and Michael Sio is not gonna have you genuinely challenging in semi finals!

He's going extremely well at present thanks...certainly in our top 5 performers this season as a whole...I think you'd struggle to find a Trinity fan who wouldn't agree with that....maybe some players just fit and play well at certain clubs?
It's like George King...certainly not a household name, or one opposition would fear but again, has been a tremendous signing so far...two very shrewd signings those two and have been a huge factor in how well our pack has been playing...

I think he was joking.
Bradford can only dream of having that calibre of player, for now.
Under Kear's stewardship, they are making excellent progress and if they get into the mix at the end of the season, they could be the kind of side to shake up the form book. JK loves a challenge

Yeah we'd love Craig fat ar53 back at the club struggling to get back ten and falling off tackles. He'd be a fan favourite given his history with us.
I wouldn't worry about us challenging anyone. The only side going up this season is Toronto. We want the prize money from finishing in the top five then can mount a challenge next season.
Unlike Superleague where you do have a chance. Like I said would be good if someone different won it.

| Given the fact that Catalans have a better team than Wakefield (when all registered players are available) and that Catalans are not guaranteed to make the Grand Final, I don't know why anyone would imagine that Wakefield would make the Grand Final.
The only strong probability for the Grand Final is St Helens, and even they were decisively defeated in the Challenge Cup semi-final last year by Catalans, as they were in Perpignan in the Super League round this year.. Catalans also defeated Warrington in the CC final in 2018, and in Super League at Perpignan this year. So if you are looking for an outsider to beat either St Helens or Warrington in the Super League semis, and thus make the Grand Final, it would be smarter to bet on Catalans.

| So far out of 12 league games, only 4 have been away from home, and one of them was a defeat at London. So, won't be easy for them to make the play-offs.

Problem whenever people say “when we/they get all the fit bodies back” is that it’s unlikely that in the time it takes for other to return that others won’t get injured or that the returnees then stay injury free. When you get to the end of the season you’re just as likely to have a few guys missing after a long season of 29 league games and a few cup games thrown in too.
Whilst they look like they’ll be the top 2, Saints and Warrington have also gone close to pretty much full strength every week. Would be interesting to see what they’re like if they have 8/9/10 guys missing at a time for a period of time.
