What's the solution?'"
Solution to what? The Marathon clash or the scheduling?
The Marathon isn't an issue on Saturday as it goes nowhere near Anfield, whilst the Sunday marathon is due to start for "fun runners" at 10.30am, with a 6 hr time limit permitted before racers will be taken off the roads.
Given Anfield is situated at the 6-7 mile stage, it is fair to assume that all runners will be past this point by 12.30 at the latest, with a view to all roads being opened again soon thereafter.
Given day 1 last year didn't start until 3pm, I would imagine that both days will finish with a 7.30pm KO and feature at least one team from the area.......
...which dovetails nicely into scheduling.
Day 1
Salford v Hull KR
Leeds v London
St Helens v Castleford
Day 2
Huddersfield v Hull FC
Wakefield v Catalans
Wigan v Warrington
Both sets of Hull fans travel in decent numbers and even if they're not hanging around for the other 2 games, they'll be there in enough numbers to make the place look OK.
I can see day 1 getting close to 40k and day 2 over 30k.....the marathon clash isn't ideal, but Anfield/Liverpool council are obviously willing to pay more than the Geordies.
Both sets of Hull fans can leave home at 10am and be tucked up in bed by 9pm if they fancy the day trip.......

So basically your whole post and arguement is wrong.
The games being played are
14:00 - Wakefield Trinity v Catalans Dragons 13:00 - Salford Red Devils v Hull Kingston Rovers
16:30 - Hull FC v Huddersfield Giants 15:30 - Leeds Rhinos v London Broncos
19:00 - Wigan Warriors v Warrington Wolves 18:00 - St Helens v Castleford Tigers
Plus the Sunday games start at 1 pm which means using your extrapolations that there will be 30 minutes between the runners passing Anfield opening the roads and getting all the fans in for day to start at 1 pm.

No. My Post is what I would have done in terms of scheduling the days. The RFL have form in shifting goal posts...anyone remember the recent Anfield farce?
I stand by my scheduling as far better than the RFL's.....especially the later starts, but I am not the one dealing with Liverpool Old Bill who seem to cack their pants ant the thought of 1/3rd of the Wembley CC Final crowd in a stadium at once.......someone needs to explain we're not soccer.

Sorry Buddy, I meant what was the solution to the expensive hotels given that plenty of runners have bagged them already?

Day trip, camping, out of town hotel, expensive city centre hotel i’d say are your options.

Covered the itinerary with the moderator already....my fixtures were designed on maximising Hull fans attending weighed against the cost of accommodation that will already be full.......
....as for the expensive Hotels?
It is what it is. As I said, most of the fans for the games as scheduled can do a there ad back in a day scenario.......if you really want to make a weekend of it, then pay what the asking price is, but don't blame the RFL, for whom this cash cow is now more important, as they have undoubtedly been offered more cash than Newcastle would pay.
I can see Magic weekend being binned in favour of a 9's event soon, or are they going to pick the national side on the basis of "he looks like he could play it"?

| Yep, it is what it is. Don't like the fixtures 1 iota and that's me with a neutral head on.
That said, looks like I'm off so hopefully it will be good. If it's not, then I'll moan like hell in 6 months time and be £500 lighter.

There's loads more pubs than just those three within a five minute walk of Anfield, and they all seem to cope on LFC match days which have bigger crowds than this will have, so I'm sure they'll cope. There's a fan zone directly behind the Anfield Road Stand, and a big screen area set up behind the Kop for all LFC games now too, so I'm sure they'll be in use, and as you say Stanley Park does offer extra room for the RFL to set something up if they want to.
Hotels are expensive in Liverpool every weekend. It's one of the most visited cities in the UK for overseas tourists, and also a stag/hen magnet, so it's never a cheap place to stay. I'll only be going on the day Wires play anyway, but I imagine most fans of north west clubs who do go for both days will probably just go home on the Saturday night and then back on the Sunday morning. I acknowledge that's a lot harder for those from Yorkshire or farther afield, but at least it reduces the demand for rooms slightly. You don't need to stay in the city centre though, as anywhere on the Merseyrail network will connect you easily. Get the Travelodge in New Brighton looked into for starters. There's also Southport, elsewhere on the Wirral, etc all within easy access.
The only issue I can see is the marathon. It does seem like very poor scheduling.

| I think the RFL are doing a very good job in arranging our major games to coincide with other big events, its as though they don't want to attract any new fans by giving them loads of hassle to get there.

The RFL weren’t responsible for picking the Magic venue, that would be on Super League and Elstone and co.

| Maybe they will have people selling tickets on the streets to supporters and runners of the marathon.
Or they could get a flyer in each of the runners goodie bag they get at the end of the race with a discount (as season ticket holders get) which says buy online or direct from the Anfield ticket office.

Wonder if Elstone (Everton Fan) has an ulterior motive to get the Anfield Pitch destroyed by playing all those games on it.

Yeah playing those 6 games on it in late May will really screw Liverpool over when they eventually need it again 3 months later in mid-late August.

I very much doubt they will do a repair job over the 3 months, they will rip up the turf and re lay new grass nicely subsidised by the rugby supporters.

Elstone may have worked for the club for many years but he's certainly no Everton fan and was very much disliked by many blues and knew it too.

Why? Warrington, Wigan and Saints should all take far more fans than they would to Newcastle. The Saturday with Wires V Wigan as the headline game should be well attended for starters. I've only been to the three MW's in Manchester and one in Newcastle, and each time only on the day of our game. I know there are people who like to make a weekend of it, but there are plenty more who just want to go to their team's game, and the closer it is to home the more likely they are to bother.
