As many as 40 left by the end I'm surprised watching that total shower of . The only saving grace is that the admission was £21 for season ticket holders and £23 for non season ticket holders for a game against championship opposition live on Sky
Even a lot of the diehards went to the pub and put the entrance money behind the bar instead.
I'm surprised anyone went.

| Quote ="Sir Kevin Sinfield"£22 to get in at Widnes and £20 to get in at Castleford. Sadly lots of fans aren’t willing to part with those amounts to watch games. The majority at league games are season ticket holders, paying considerably less than this. It’s the same every year, prices need to come down for the cup games, if we are to get more people at them.
Imagine the outcry if Toronto Wolfpack got an attendance figure this low.'"
You can’t get into a top Bundesliga football game for less than that.

I left work near Wakey at 1815 and was getting fish and chips in Widnes at 1940. It's a terrible excuse used by some fans of all clubs for not travelling. The game, if not a belter, was tense and exciting and well worth the investment to see Leeds win at a real bogey ground.

Neither do I, it just adds to the problem of teams playing the same teams (and only those teams) over and over again. It also sets up the cup to be more likely to see the same few clubs getting to the final year on year. You wouldn't really expect a club from outside the SL to make the final but when nearly every year Wigan, St Helens, Warrington, Leeds, (and more recently) Hull FC and Cas all get a bye to the last 16 even the lower half of SL clubs are likely to run into one of the top teams and (usually) see their run end there.
I would rather see something like a first round of the 26 Championship & League 1 clubs plus 14 community clubs with the 20 winners then going into an open draw with the 12 SL clubs in round 2. That way you would get more potential for variation in fixtures plus big draws for lower league clubs. You would also increase the chances of a club lower down the ladder making the final which was surely part of the appeal of the cup. With fewer rounds we could also start the cup later in the season and cut out the stupid momentum killing gaps we have had.

What has happen?
Escaping by the skin of our teeth last year only to resign the players and didn’t budget a drop in numbers so can’t spend anymore money.
The same boring structured rugby 5 drives and a kick, go off plan and you don’t play again like D Walker.
Not dropping players out of form because there a BIG name.
It’s toxic at Widnes at the moment, I’ve been going 30 odd years just to get a buzz on match day meeting mates for a pint, now can’t be bothered going even though I’ve got a season pass. A lot of people feel the same, miserable faces in the boozer and walking down the ground knowing 80 minutes of boring rugby and probably a loss.
I don’t know who or what the problem is, Rule or Betts but the way it’s going unless they know the league structure next year we are painfully crawling into the championship.

NOBODY can be proud of a 2000 attendance for any game between 2 SL sides, it's pitiful.
Perhaps the answer is another "magic" style weekend for this particular round of fixtures.
Play all the games over a 2 day weekend at one or two venues and split the receipts (somehow).
It's no wonder that the wider public aren't interested, when even the regular "fans" cant make it from the comfort of their living room / local boozer.

Going to finals every year gets expensive, have to save a few quid every now and again for the big games, something you don't know and never will know about.
So you took 1000 to Huddersfield like I say 10 miles away, Leeds would have taken 2-3k even for a early round of challenge cup. Still managed 1000 for a Friday night game 70 odd miles down m62 carpark, you would have taken about 200-300 most.

They are currently owned by a group of investors petrified by risk, I read an interview with James Rule in which he was basically saying they can't sign better players unless they sell lots more season tickets. Meaning 'we only want to spend your money, not our own' or 'if you buy this inferior product we will have the money to improve it'.
Good riddance come the qualifiers.'"
Putting out ‘guilt trip’ statements claiming the fans needs to back the club or else arent new for James Rule, we had years of that game at Hull...then they’d go sign some old hasbeen to shift some season tickets, hype us all up and then a bang average season and the cycle repeats

| R.E Widnes/Leeds attendance, is anyone really that shocked? From what I've seen Widnes fans are becoming more and more disillusioned with the club as the weeks go on, and I don't think Leeds fans view Widnes as the most enticing on opponents.

Over 4K for that match not the best but not that bad for hastily arranged match in bad weather with no away fans. That's twice you've been wrong with your figures also talking to a Halifax fan today and he's said Huddersfields not their derby, seems like everyone else they're not bothered about you.
