From some of the numbers mentioned by Salfords own fans, the cost of playing there isn't sustainable in SL, let alone down in the Championship.
If they were to get relegated, there may be some form of parachute payment but, I dont think that it would be enough.

Off loading players part way through the season will be a big worry to the Salford faithful and unless there is someone with cash and a decent master-plan, from the outside, things dont look that great.

I didn't know that. But like I said, if that or Lui turns into reality from rumour, then Salford are in a world of trouble. To be honest, I suspect they already are: the press notice they put out this morning about the Gareth O'Brien move was very different to the account the player himself put out.

They simply don't have the income - without a deep-pocketed funder - to maintain a full-time SL operation. I hope they can make it through the year, but for their own good, unless they find a benefactor, they need to relocate to a semi-pro existence in the Championship, or there's a good chance that the club will disappear completely under its debts.

Salford were always going to struggle without Marwan covering their losses, instead relying on their pitiful crowds to bring in income.

I don't know how Salford will survive whatever they say we have a 7500 average and our directors still have to put 500,000 in every season

Most of those supporters have seen the square root of sod-all when it comes to success (you don't understand the concept) & yet they turn up in whatever numbers, some St's fans would walk away if they didn't make the play-offs.

What you should realise is that those few thousand people who do turn up to Salford games care a great deal. They aren’t turning up to watch trophy competing sides, they are turning up through loyalty. Something more successful club’s fans wouldn’t know much about.

I’d be more worried about the fact that trophy winning sides only pull in between 10-15000 fans. Is that all they can attract when being at the pinnacle of this sport? It’s pitiful really. Charlton pulled in similar figures to St Helens last season and they were in the 3rd tier of English football and Saints are arguably the third biggest RL club in this country. Portsmouth who were in the fourth tier last season had a higher average attendance than all clubs in SL! These more successful RL clubs have no excuses for their lack of fans. They aren’t exactly taking the game forward and pulling in big crowds week-in-week-out are they?

The harsh reality is that Group A clubs have taken the game as far as it will go in the UK whilst they are hamstrung by under-performing Group B clubs.....blaming the Group A clubs for not doing better is crass. Comparing us with football is insane by the way, but I am sure you knew that but did it anyway just to suit your argument.

Id be delighted if those figures were, 800,000 and 400,000 fans of SL, but they aren't are they, its just counting the same fans multiple times.

Hence a 12k average for 6 clubs is just a 72,000 fanbase (plus an adjustment for adhoc attendees).
