That is your opinion, but it is not well grounded. Catalans have had trouble scoring enough tries to win a game. Anthony Gigot has the ability to score tries that other centres like Iain Thornley cannot pull off.

Not as many as he played at full back. But now Catalans have David Mead at full back, plus Jodie Broughton and either Lewis Tierney or Fouad Yaha on the wings, so centre is the natural place for Anthony Gigot -- especially since the Englishman Iain Thornley is not anywhere near as good a centre as Anthony Gigot.

Catalans have several choices in the halves:

Luke Walsh -- uneven form
Samisoni Langi -- not top draw
Lucas Albert -- talented but young and inexperienced
Gregory Bird. -- more of a loose forward

Frenchman Lucas Albert is potentially the best of those, but he is only 19 (turns 20 in July). He needs a good mentor, but alas there are not really adequate mentors available, other than Gregory Bird (who prefers to play loose forward) and Thomas Bosc.

Birds not there to teach,he's there to retire. As I said they have no halves,and its already telling.

Gregory Bird's contract with Catalans specifically gives him the chance to be an assistant coach in Perpignan when he retires from playing, as Thomas Bosc is now doing.

But Gregory Bird is still playing, and despite several injuries last year he remains a pretty formidable competitor.

I could name 20 centres who are better than Anthony James Gigot.
