If I go on a bus journey (not that I would) that I don't enjoy - do I have to volunteer to drive the bus myself before I can criticise the driver's performance?
If when I fly next week, my Virgin pilot puts us down a bit heavily, must I take the plane for a spin myself to see if I can do better?
If a film doesn't tickle my fancy and I think the lead actor was poor, do I have to star in a Hollywood blockbuster to earn the right to express that view?
To help you - the answer is no in all three scenarios; just as it's perfectly ok to criticise the performance of a match official without having to train, qualify and carry out the role yourself.
