| Yeh I think the build up to the teams coming out should be more dramatic. I would like 'hungry like the wolf' played at some point for wire games.

| Good topic. Running out one team at a time is a great little earmark for our game and should return. Great during big derby games particularly.

| Can't the players be made to lead more kids onto the field? The current total of 34 adds very little to the spectacle.

| I assumed it was only me being a miserable old man but, I go to the game to watch rugby everything else is a distraction. Please go back to the ref out then the away team. Make them wait & then the home side come out to hopefully a bit of noise. I would prefer them to warm up out of site as well. But I suppose the sponsors want their piece of the limelight. Coming out together for internationals & finals are different as it highlights that it is something special.

Not for me. It had a bit of theatre about it for the first few players. Then after five or six you'd be thinking 'okay, let's get on with it'. By the time the subs from the second team out were being introduced everyone was cringing to death.
Personally I'm a believer in letting the rugby speak for itself. Some games are naturally more low key than others, and that's fine with me. They can't all be big matches. When there's a lot at stake and there's anxiety and tension about what's about to take place, you get a big game atmosphere. Trying to manufacture one with American-style hype and dramatic anticipation music just comes across as desperate to me.

| Don't know if anyone has mentioned this but on the subject of livelier build ups to games, hull tonight we are having a lightshow and they are handing out glow sticks and playing music so loud tour eardrums burst. Did it last home match minus the glow sticks so maybe its becoming a thing, dunno, any how it is a bit more exciting.

Isn't it always at night in hull? Haha will be chaos tomorrow when KR and City are playing as well as it being an average Friday night. Rugby fighting football, football fighting each other, rugby and rugby stood around not understanding why football fight so much, normal average bogans getting involved, PARTY!!

| Officials come out
Away team runs out
Home team runs out
Rugby game is played.
Simple as that.
No slow walk out with teams together, no line of kids, no line up that serves no purpose at all, no daft lights out/flashing lights gimmick, and while we're at it can every ground turn the ridiculously loud music down n'all?!
I'm not a boring old sod. I enjoy being off my face and having my head in the speakers at the front of the dance floor at 3am whilst watching a DJ set. but not at the rugby. At the rugby the music being so loud so you can't hear the bloke next to you does nothing. It doesn't build an atmosphere, it's just daft.
KILL THE CHEESE! I'm there to watch the rugby!

That last time should be Super League's tag line.

well said, Wigan is especially bad with the loud music, it it any wonder the atmosphere is dead at Wigan home games, most people just probably want to get some peace and quiet after that!
apparently it's what the "new fans" want so we have to go with it.
don't get the lights thing either, Hull City did it last night at the football....why??

It would appear to be the RFL as it's at both televised and non-televised games.
Seems a bit silly to me. Not entirely sure what they're lining up for.

| They started doing it in the NRL reserve grade comp here in NSW.
The teams line up together, walk out and then shake hands. Utter nonsense. They even have the captain wearing an armband with a C on it.

That's what the football teams do over here. Though in John Terry's case the C on the armband didn't stand for "Captain".

| Isn't it because all players walk out now with a kid. That wouldn't really work if you did one team at a time and them running straight onto the pitch. So I imagine it's to accommodate that and let the kids have their picture taken in the lineup.

| Why not have the teams run out like the good old days then line up with the kids if we really have to go down that route?

It's loud at a few grounds, including Wire's, but it is [ireally[/i loud at Wigan. Ridiculously loud!
As soon as the music stops it's deadly silent in the crowd in a lot of grounds because the music's been so loud you can't get anything going in the stands. Fans build an atmosphere. Fans who've been given the chance to, that is.
