Leigh is Wigan's grubby little backyard. It ranks with Wakefield's Belle Vue as a place that serious, socially respected people don't want to be seen.

Leigh is unworthy of a place in Super League at the expense of great clubs like London Broncos and Toulouse Olympique. The very thought of parochial Leigh being promoted to Super League makes me shudder.

For most Salford fans, last year's outstanding player was Scott Taylor and I wish we still had him on our books. Leythers should know why.
I really rated Hansen and was sad to see him go: he is a tower of strength in defence. There are also the Salford links. THe other player I would have back in a heartbeat is Cory Paterson.

Being hated by other rugby fans is nice. It means you are a threat. I have had enough of Wigan, Saints, Leeds (etc.) fans telling me their second team is Salford: there was a condescending air in the comments. Salford were allowed in the group/family/league as they politely knew their place. Things have changed: so Leythers enjoy.

Don't think I've seen Taylor have a bad game, and he was excellent at the weekend. Hansen has been excellent in the 3 games he's played for us, including the Wigan friendly. Hopefully Patterson will be back this weekend.

Teams need the grafters like Hanson, and would I have him back at Salford now? Tough one. We have a better player in Murdoch-Massila but are light in the forwards. I'd have him back with the right attitude and for peanuts. But that would be the only reasons.

Are Leigh disliked or did a few of their fans start up this weird "everyone's against us" campaign on here and in other social media on the back of the Gareth Hock signing and a couple of handbag fights and cheap shots against Featherstone when they were questioned by a few people? On every fifth thread for a couple of weeks on this site you'd see a Leigh fan (seemingly about the same half dozen) popping up where they hadn't been seen before saying "why do you hate Leigh?"...then it carries on this season. Bizarre! They've made it all up themselves and are carrying it on.

I feel sorry for the normal Leigh fans a lot of whom seemed decent at Wire last season when they came in the CCup. Yes they got a bit giddy when they were in the lead against the worst Wire side for six years singing "are you watching Super League?!" and then got easily beaten, but they were behind their team really well all game and were no bother outside the ground before or after that day.

But...does anyone really hate Leigh at all? or is it just a fabrication to get the Super League fans talking about them more?
