| Interesting that in the interview with Jack Cogger doing the rounds at the moment he says he is loving England and would be back to play there if the NRL doesn't work out for him. Sounds like his dad and uncle might have told him it's a good thing to do.

| England Academy could do with being gifted another favourable penalty count of a magnitude of say 21-7 in their favour if that half time scoreline is anything to go by.

| England are not giving up.
22-12 now, but it's only 4 tries to 3 with England kicking none and Lamb kicking 3 from 4.
Heaps of penalties going to England now.

| 1 minute to go - Australia on the attack
Brock Lamb got man of the match - commentators hardly called him.

The English ref failed in his duty today.
Needs to penalise the Australian Schoolboys out of the game much earlier in the game next week.
Oh well.
At least England won the penalty count by plenty!

| A game we should have won and we will be better for the hit up on Friday imo, like the look of King and Gildart at centres, his Grandad will be proud 4 doors away

| Schoolboys are usually not great in defence. They develop that skill later. So the question is who is the most talented in attack?
Who was the most impressive in attack today?

Fairly equal really, it was the Aussies more aggressive defence that won them the game ,the 4 big South Sea heritage players that made it possible
The Aussie full back was a knob, they always have 1

Ref had a decent match, but no idea where he saw the forward pass to disallow the England try with 10 to go

| The size of the Aussie pack was ridiculous. It was hard for England to get out of their own half in the early stages. I'm not sure whether England improved significantly as the game went on or whether Australia eventually took their foot off the gas but I suspect it's a bit of both.
Their pack seemed better than ours for most of the game but I think in Gildart and King we've got better centres and it showed when they were given space to work with. King created a try for Oliver Davies (who I thought was probably England's most impressive forward) with raw pace to beat his man and a well timed pass. Gildart was dangerous throughout, created breaks and scored and very good try himself.
Jordan Abdul from Hull was a bit of a handful and showed some nice touches. He's got some aggressive defence and good hands in attack. He's seems to have good range with his kicking but the direction was a little off at times. He's very chunky for a stand off though. Looks more like a ball player loose forward to me.

Think Abdul has been playing 13 when playing for our academy, but played in the halves for the first team due to injuries/lack of form.
I also think (but may be wrong) that Turgut is mainly, and has been playing, in the second row but was chosen at 13 today.

| The radio commentary I listened to was terrible.
All they talked about were the areas where they thought England weren't matching Australia, and it basically sounded like Australia should have won by 40 because they were better in every aspect apparently.

Aussie halves had a much better kicking game but their pack was on top
Our centres looked tasty, Gildart was very dangerous but had a few brain farts ie twice putting his winger I'm touch from scrims on the first set from scrums and should have found his winger to put us in front first half, but he caused lots of problems all game. King? The other centre looks very good in attack and defence, big unit and somebody has got a soon to be future international on their books imo

Being honest they were generally ( better in all aspects) of the game.
We did not have a game plan, that became evident from quite early in the game. I know that the team did not have anything like the Aussies preparation, but whose fault is that?
Our scrum half was out of his depth and really was a very weak link for us, He ought to have opened the scoring for England but tried a short pass with the line at most ten yards away and a pretty clear run to it. He did not have the confidence to take the opportunity and that reflected throughout his game.
Another player that disappointed entirely was Gildarts wing partner who had nightmares with any high ball coming his way, terrible positioning sense and a pretty weak game overall, he was as someone else has said given a couple of awful balls from his centre for which he should be exonerated from the outcome of, but really he did seem the poorest player on the field, bar none.
Our F/B looked good and the centre's were as good as if not better than their aussie counterparts. WE looked better when Ward was off and the wigan lad was in at hooker,. Generally the forwards tried hard but were clearly second best throughout for the greater part the game.
I thought that we were definitely short changed by the coaching set-up, if there was any and did not really get going until it was too late, and that did not arise purely because penalties were awarded.
