Not really, we have the joys of selecting from amateurs in a few towns in a small region of southern France. Leigh is in a very densely populated area with kids growing up in a more pro-RL environment. Catalans have no advantages at all.

Pretty pointless them being in SL unless they are growing the French game. How bad must French RL be if they can't form one team from a whole country of jnrs? Their systems must be terrible.

No you have the advantage of developing a jnr system for thousands of kids playing RL in the sth of France with no competition for cherry picking the best. The fact after all these years catalans still can not find 20 decent SL standard players from that pool is a damning indictment on the quality of the French jnr systems and Catalans scouting and development program's for the elite of those jnrs.

In WA we only have around 300 jnrs playing RL in AFL land but still manage to develop players going on to play in NRL. It's as much about the system as the numbers.

Don't tell people that! Only Huddersfield get poor crowds for the play offs! Biggest percentage of home support for a play off game in 2014 so let's slag Huddersfields crowds shall we?

As well as the 5 starting they had 3 on the bench making 8/17. The same rules apply to Catalan as every other super league club.

Yes I know, but it seems like a genuine reasonable discussion is impossible on these boards, I'd suggest more English clubs should be encouraged to look at French juniors

Congratulations to the Huddersfield Giants club on posting a healthy 'afterthought' attendance in the region of a nicely-rounded 6,900 to be exact. The announcement of the attendance figure was such an 'afterthought' that it didn't even register on Sky's TV coverage. Lovely stuff indeed.

As SL attendances go, 6,900 is right up there in terms of polished cleanliness with several similarly polished attendance figures this season claimed by the Salford and Catalan clubs on their twitter and YouTube feeds, give or take a few nicely rounded 100's, 200's or 1000's added or shaved off here or there for maximum effect.

France regularly beat England at junior level, the kids being produced are talented in the extreme but no one else seems to notice. It's not Catalans job to sign up every French junior under the sun.

It is their job to find 17 good ones and turn them into SL players!

Doesn't the stand that everyone was in hold over 7,000? It looked pretty full to me on the TV.

it holds 8,000 ish so 6,900 isn't that far off!

Catalans have fielded 21 home-grown players this year which I would guess is far more than any other SL club.
