| Wests after living in Ingleburn years ago and watching the Magpies at Cambeltown every other week.
Managed to take a team on tour to Sydney years later and played on Cambletowns pitch.

| Quote ="roopy"Manly are disliked because they come from the wrong side of town - North of the harbour - where the rich people live.'"
Why did every like the North Sydney Bears then?
They are disliked, because the club and people like Ken Arthurson had money and would buy players to win comps, much to the annoyance of everyone else. In fact they even bought players to stop them playing in the teams from which they were bought. Also as Arko was responsbile for signing Graham Eadie, Bob Fulton, Ken Irvine, Terry Randall, Mal Reilly, John O'Neill, Phil Lowe, Paul Vautin, Les Boyd and Kerry Boustead. This made Manly disliked.
You seem to forget the history of the clubs.in 1908, Easts, Souths, Wests, Norths (which was decimated when the bridge was being built) Newcastle, Balmain and Glebe, were all working class, poor areas.
As for the original point of being rich v poor. The silvertails v fibros comes more from when Wests played in Lidcombe. But if you look up where they originally played, Birchgrove Oval, you'll see how beautiful their ground was... though still a tough working class area back then.

Manly now bring as many local juniors through as other clubs do.
Are Souths the new "Silvertails" now then?'"
Really?
I counted 3 who played first grade last season. jason King and the two U20s who were given a chance in the last game of the season, Jake Trbojevic and Clint Gutherson,

| Liked the Roosters since Morley played their. Kind of followed them ever since. First came down here for a year in 2009 and endured that horrendous season, but still followed them. Now permanently live in Sydney and a Roosters member.
Sharkies are my 2nd team, seeing as I live in Cronulla.

Ok, didn't make a great argument with the beer goggles on!.
Manly don't go around other clubs buying up their established stars like they used to (its not like clubs here didn't do it in the past is it) .
Also I can kind of understand the hatred of Manly down to the likes of Fulton & Arko, their whining and moaning when they were involved with the Australian National side would make a vicar swear!
The point made about Souths were buying a fair few Poms (who I want to do well, as all of the British players down under) and the likes of Inglis.
One thing my cousin said about visiting Brookvale was that the ground doesn't have great facilities and that hill is a health hazard when wet...guess Manly & Cas have something in common then

'"
It's harder to do in the NRL because of the cap and the fact nearly all clubs can spend it.
Souths have managed to get Sam and GI (maybe Te'o) from other clubs who were big names when we got them. Manly ripped sides apart offering players big money, some would say that's fair enough in sport but that adds to why their hated.

| Always followed Canberra but going off them, seem v poorly run. Keep an eye on Rabbitohs due to Burgesses and quite like Wests and NZ.
Cant be doing with Melbourne as just seem a corporate franchise with no desire for roots or spreading game in Vic. Or Bulldogs as fans seem rough as, although used to love El Masri.

Yeah it was brilliant wasn't it?...Micron Video if I remember right.
Three games on each tape per round...starting with The Winfield Cup promotional vid, then hosted by Graeme Hughes.
He & Ian Maurice did the co commentating after shunting Rex Mossop into the summarising slot...any chance the same fate could happen to Eddie here soon?

More reason to like them now that former London Broncos star Jamie Soward has relocated there, along with fleet footed Fijian flyer Kevin Naiqama, and 20 year old PNG up and comer Wellington Albert.

| I subscribed to premier for the World Cup and they've persuaded us to keep it on a cheap deal so I'll be watching the NRL properly for the first time.
I needed a team so I went for Souths purely for the Sam Burgess connection after his performances for England.

| 44 votes and not one for the Raiders.
What a disgraceful lot you are.
Not at a desktop so can't be bothered creating all the quotes, so just saying...
- Tomkins will never be dropped to reserve grade.
- Manly is Northern Beaches so does not equal North Sydney/North Shore.
- Meninga never played for the Broncos. The year the Broncos entered the comp is the year Meninga started with the Raiders.

| Broncos. Been my Aussie team since I was a kid watching Langer, Sailor, Tallis, Lockyer, Hancock and Renouf. In fact I think I saw a Broncos game (on TV) before I ever saw a Salford game.
Like to see the Rabbits go well as well though.

You make the oddest comments...
Warriors for me. Every games a roller coaster with them and now even more reason to see how Tomkins gets on.
Also have a soft spot for Cronulla. Always the underdog.
It's cringeworthy seeing people use the term "see how he/they goes/go". Does everyone throw away their language and adapt it to that used in Wagga Wagga when talking about NRL?

| I see at least 1 person has admitted to following the Rabbitohs, yet 19 have chosen them in the poll. Wonder if the other 18 followed them before Crowe took over?
And in answer to the question; it's the team that I have kept an eye out on since 2003 yet only followed them properly in the last couple of years due to being able to watch a lot more NRL games.
