| Quote ="bewareshadows"Whilst a contribution can be made by all, in the end they have to come to some agreement.
Walking out does nothing to add to any discussion.
If the meeting ended in a stalemate then fair enough, but walking out is hardly the mature response you would expect.
Also regarding the Bizzare turn around from Saints, there is nothing of the sort. The Saints owner clarified his support to the initial rebellion. He is also professional enough to know how to voice his objections and was voicing them years before IL decided to jump on the bandwagon. IL voted for the Stobart deal don't forget.
Saints still have objections but are not going to walk out on talks, even when our point of view has not been the dominant one, we have accepted that SL is a democracy of chairmen and voice the opinion but agree to go with the majority.
The 6 that walked out may well have backing from Saints on some points, but Saints are not going to hang onto IL coat tails even on points they do not agree on.
I'm not going to play the whose the most successful business man game. But as IL's point was that the SL chairmen should decide more of RL's issues, it not a great example of how SL will be run if he gets his way, walkouts and stomping of feet, is that the professional image that we can look forward to?'"

This was not a RFL meeting though, it was a SL meeting. The RFL meeting is still going to be after the WC.
You are right SKY would not offer the same money for a competition without Wigan, but Wigan would not survive without RL.
They could opt to move to Union, but I'm sure the RL public in Wigan would adopt a new team and Wigan RU would find a similar following to Orrell once the years pass.
I don't think it's a likely outcome though.
However 6 walking out suggests 8 did not. So if the 8 don't like what the 6 say, should they walk out next time. How do you reach agreement when if you don't get your way you act like this, walking out!
Agreement is reached by talking. If there was no Wigan in that grouping I think the rest would force the issue. But given Wigan have as much history, success and supporters behind them as say Leeds or Saints. Then it's going to be something of a stale mate until the big clubs can agree.
Don't see how they will agree without meeting and talking.

That being that the RFL are a joke and that after they stated they would leave it alone until AFTER the WC they tried to bounce the clubs voting against them into agreement by holding a snap vote.
The 6 clubs decided to say FU and walked out of a meeting that was in essence turned into a circus by the RFL trying to be smart and having it backfire on them as usual.

| At the Hull FC fans forum Pearson has just said we have concerns with the way game is being run and we won't be pressured into a hurried vote. Says Gary Hetherington has had 17 years helping run game and time other clubs had a say and he won't get an apology

Yup - there can be no proper breakway without both Leeds and Wigan as no-one would pay for it without the two biggest teams. The reality is that there will have to be a compromise somewhere - although how and when it will happen remains to be seen. The big concern remains that the SL clubs will take their traditional view and sh[i1[/it on the rest of the sport. There was a glimmer of hope with the whole sport solution but that appears, sadly, to be receding.

All reports I have seen state that the major issue is the they 6 clubs want the governance of the sport involved as they feel the RFL are not really fit for purpose. All the reports I have seen is that the 6 clubs DO want P&R back and by all accounts most want 12 teams,They do by all accounts think that 12-12 8-8-8 is barking however.

| I respect Gary Hethrington he lives and breathes rugby league and he has experiance running both a small club and a big club. I think Gary is genuinely looking at what's best for the future of the sport and is not being influenced by self interest. And this is from a Salford supporter.

| Very interesting info coming from the Hull FC forum tonight.
Saints were not at the meeting so they couldn't have walked out if they wanted too.
So we have 13 clubs in attendance 7 who backed the RFL 6 (Not 7 as Saints were not there) against.
Rather sneaky by the RFL and the RFL supporting clubs if true. This ladies and gentlemen is the organization in charge of the sport we love.

Bradford couldn't vote either. And it's not clear if Castleford would have voted as their Chairman is 'very ill'. This would most likely have resulted in a tie, at which point Brian Barwick would have had the casting vote.
Do you want to remind everyone what his dual role is again?

Like I say this BS has the RFL's fingerprints all over it and they are the ones running the RL show.
