I am sure a couple of years ago I bought a ticket from Sankey through to Bury, so hopefully will be able to. I am heading back to Warrington on Wednesday morning so I will ask when I arrive and post the answer on here for the benefit of anyone else getting the train over.

You can buy tickets straight through to Metrolink stops from any train station in the UK. You used to be able to get them from the small ticket machines (the blue, Network Rail ones) but not from the Virgin/Cross Country/A. N. Other Branded machines. You can certainly get them from a manned office, though. There's no financial saving, but it certainly makes life easier.

If you haven't got a ticket yet, stick 'Metrolink' in the promo code, you can get 20% off. Its on all the posters a the stops round town.

Oh and there are several pubs near the stadium - on Grey Mare Lane to the south end. They're not the best pubs in the world but provide as much as many fans want/need on a match day.

Please be aware the massive Asda near the stadium (you can't miss it) wasn't serving alcohol to anyone in a rugby shirt last year! some fans were actually buying a plain £2 t-shirt and going back in genious!

Just read on the Wigan site that over 65,000 have been sold and that more reserved sections have been opened at either end of the stadium.

Sounds very promising and it looks to have grown from last year.

i just hope we manage to get fans to stick around for all the games, to make it look well attended rather than drifting in and out, thats been the only downside for me.

I ordered 3 tickets for the lower tier when after another friend wanted to come with. Now as the lower tier has sold out I just ordered a ticket for the middle tier with reserved seating, will be still be able to sit together? I.E once in the stadium will they be that bothered that someone has paid for a more expensive ticket sitting in the unreserved section? I can't see the unreserved section being full?

They're separate entrances and on separate levels on the stadium so wouldn't be able to sit together unless you upgraded all of the tickets to the reserved section.

quick question for people who live in Manchester area, can i buy a ticket for the Metrolink at Piccadilly for Etihad Campus, but change trams in the city zone ?

basically i want to go from piccadilly, detour via victoria and then to Etihad, can i do it on the same ticket?.

I did this last year, 3 lads had unreserved lower tier and i had reserved middle tier and they let me in the unreserved lower tier. Suppose it depends on what sort of steward you get.

Just phoned them, although on their website it states lower tier is sold out weekend tickets are still available for the unreserved section! Fortunately I'm able to get a refund on the ticket in the middle tier.

As Piccadilly and Victoria are in the same zone then you probably can (you can always play the out-of-town card if an inspector questions it) - though you have to complete your "outward" journey (get to Etihad) within an hour and a half of buying your ticket; so you can't head to Victoria, have drinks for a couple of hours nearby, then head to Etihad. They are less than 20 minutes walk apart anyway.

Does anybody know what time the ticket office at the Etihad is open until on the saturday in order to pick up tickets? TIA

This might seem a dopey question but can you freely move about in the unreserved section? or are you still restricted by turnstyle entrance you go in?

You can come and go and move where and as you please mate

Once you are in the bottom tier, you are free to move anywhere you want, in that bottom tier. Fans of each club tend to congregate in a particular area.
