| Saint's had two tries given that looked forward, the final one was clearly forward from the markings and there wasn't the excuse of momentum. Cats try where it was given forward wasn't forward, especially when compared to the Saint's efforts.
Sending off, never.
And the kick, try. It's ridiculous to thing that a player cannot challenge for the ball without "nudging" the opposition, all that the contact did was make the Saint's player reach less to his left and fail to gather the ball than would have happened.
Cats should have been awarded two tries which were not given and Saint's two less.

| A very poor game by the officials again !
That's 2 weeks on the trot that Thaler has officiated where bad decisions have cost the losers the match.

Rubbish !
Puletua was still going up with the elbow after impact . If he had kept his elbow down, he would have been OK.

Yes maybe Henderson should of been sent off for leading with the head

| I've always said I would love to have Stuart Cummings as my boss. You could f*** up day in, day out and he would still say you were doing a stand up job, and probably even get a promotion or two out of it.
Isn't Ian Smith supposed to have quit refereeing so that he can be a trainer and mentor to the lower league referee's? Jeez, I feel sorry for the likes of Matt Thomason, Jamie Leahy, Gareth Hewer and others having that clown as their mentor, well, obviously when he's got a wee bit of spare time from sitting in a van on each televised match pressing buttons and royally f****** up.

| With refs decisions I look it at as what would I do if it was my team recieving them or denied them. The challenge in the air although harsh if the Cats player had done it to my team I would have screamed blue murder if an opposition done that if someone touched a Wigan player in the air like that. 50/50 call.
For the knock on on the half way line which led to a disallowed try. If the VR cant rule on forward passes he could n't rule on that. It didn't cross a line, Pryce had to run from way behind to get to it, it didn't hit the ground. IMO it went straight up and came down. It should have been benefit of doubt.
The red card should have been a penalty, contact with the head. Harsh, but consistancy with Moa. If they were sending offs then also PErry should have gone for a head shot as well (one off the top of my head from last nights match and probably another 10 tackles similar) as with every body else who does a head high tackle. Also that woould have been a penalty in the NRL as well.
Not to mention the forward passes he missed and gave incorrectly for. A fortnight ago Thaler has been the best ref this season, with only Bentham running him close before he broke his leg. Now he has probably missed out on the Challenge cup final and GF, but who has been the best ref this year?

| Some baffling decisions in the first half but second half (from memory) he was ok. Sending off - correct decision. No real malice in it but these shoulder charges need sorting out. Not the same type of high shot as Perry who really does have an issue with technique and clearly doesn't like it when he gets one back.

| As a neutral I thought Catalans were on the end of some bad calls from both the officials & the V.R.
Just prior to St’s 1st try Hohaia conned a penalty on the 5th tackle, when he clearly moved off the mark.
He also threw the long pass to create the try which was two foot forward, and from a standing position, no momentum rule there.
The Catalan try disallowed when the ball hit Price was a tough call either way, however, the final one was another awful decision from Smith, and not for the first time this year.

| Sending off was spot on. You cannot smash someone in the head with the point of your shoulder and expect to stay in the field. If he had made the same contact with forearm or elbow he wouldn't have had any complaint, so why should the shoulder be different? Reckless - one match ban.
Only one I would disagree with is the Cardace no try. Millard has to be allowed to compete for the ball.

| Catalan where robbed.
A few poor decisions both way but saints definitely got the run of the green on this one.
No way that try should have been dissalowed
This is the worst saints team I've ever seen.
Perry is a waste of space.
The fact saints are 3rd shows how bad the league is this year.
The next couple of years are going to be interesting for SL because this year it has gone backwards in my opinion.

| I'm not sure what's happened to Thaler - he's been the best ref in the comp until recently. Having said that, when he sends a decision upstairs, he should be able to trust that they'll get it right - they didn't.
The Millard incident was pathetic - it seems that for one night only, a contest for the ball must NOT include any contact with the opposition player.
Saints can consider themselves very lucky - the best team lost.

| The sending off was one of the worst I have seen from recent memory - Pulutua hit the chest and it was a pearler of a tackle. In the NRL they would have had that in top 10 tackles of the season, over here the game is being reduced less and less in terms of physicality.
Been on the end of those tackles myself and done a couple down the years and they are completely valid in my book. Think some people may have listened too much to Jon Wells who was garbage as a player and is even worse as a summariser.
I recall Ryan Bailey hitting Maurie Faasavalu with a shoulder and nothing being awarded which looked a hell of a lot worse then what Pulutua did last night.
Then there was the video ref. The last 'try' of the kick was undoubtedly a try. The Catalans player jumped fairly for the ball in my book and it was a mistake by Makinson.
The usual post match events will happen - Cummings will come out with a load of guff about how the right decisions were made etc and it will all be swept under the carpet. I was amazed that it was Ian Smith who disallowed the try given Saints' run ins with him since he was dropped for the Huddersfield game.
Anyone who thinks that the knock on try was valid has rocks in their head. The ball clearly was propelled forward.

I dont think Saints will consider themselves lucky at all (with the exception of that terrible VR decision on the last try). They'll be pleased about how they outscored the opposition in tries as well as points despite a heavy penalty count against them and playing with 12 men for the last 10 minutes. Job done after they conspired to throw the game away against Catalans at LP earlier in the season.

| I can understand the frustration with the sending off because it was a massive hit and looked at first showing to be nothing more than a massive hit and had either Puletua or the Catalans player being a fraction of a second faster then it would have been nothing more than a massive hit, but Puletua was a fraction early, his arm had started rise and he hit him in the head, its a sending off. The risk/reward for that type of hit is huge, and it is supposed to be. The responsibility is on Puletua to get that right, by a very very small margin he didnt. Sending off is right, probably sending off sufficient imo.
The Millard no try was just a nonsense, there is no defence whatsoever for that decision and either the VR is incompetent, or if he is following through on Cummins interpretation, Cummins in incompetent. Millard obstructed/interfered with Makinson no more than Makinson obstructed/interfered with Millard, they competed for the ball.

But it wasn't a knock-on, as the ball did not touch the floor or a Saints player. It may have been a forward pass, and therefore the VR cannot disallow the try.
Unless they have changed the rules without me noticing.
