SKY do not give one hoot about the size of the crowd, every SKY Monday crowd will be down on the same fixture last year between the clubs,its a shame as on tv it looks like our game is dying on its feet.Im worried about the size of the crowd at Widnes in a couple of weeks when they play Cas could be below 4k.

Thats bang on, Sky are not interested in RL. They are only interested in SKY and having something to show to folk sat at home, or in the pub on a Monday night.
Of course as a sport we enjoy the cash that they give to us but we are no longer masters of our own destiny, we dance to Mr Murdoch's tune

I think Monday night sky games will effect crowds to be honest.So no big deal, and i think Huddersfield will lose a few fans due to performances recently.

Hudds must have a serious PR problem in the town. Big population, good team, good stadium. Desperate crowds really.

No, we're not masters of our own destiny because we are a regional sport and any additional exposure we get is a GOOD thing.

Monday night football is one of Sky's big crowd pullers. As such, there's good advertising revenue to be made. Between May and Aug, Sky have a gap there due to no football. So the fact they picked RL to go into that slot suggests that, far from Sky NOT being interested in RL, they feel that RL will attract a good number of viewers to keep that Monday night slot profitable.

So here's the thing, if we as a sport are helping Sky make more money, when the contracts come up for renewal next time the sport has an additional bargaining chip to play because the only way the sport will grow is for there to be an increase in the money invested in the game.

And to get back on topic Huddersfield have terrible crowds blah blah blah. It's a disgrace blah, blah, blah.

With England football On FRiday night and this being the normal SL spot for 2 or 3 games a week (at least the big telly game )

Its seems well lets say a lucky stroke with it been the Exiles game this week on Sky on Saturday as I do feel more crowds other than just a Hudds - HKR game on a monday would be effected

Actually I think it probably has... people suppose the RFL are a blundering bunch of incompetents but they're really not.

Indeed. When a rugby game clashes with a big soccer game, we get the, 'Why oh why have Red Hall done this?' brigade complaining of incompetence, but when they quite clearly avoid a clash it's because of some sort of accident.

The point is that SKY dont care about clubs getting low crowds at games, as long as they have something to show on their sports channel.
Poor ko times are something we have to put up with, to keep our paymasters happy.

8pm on a Monday night is not a poor kick-off time.

Midweek games were much more common during the 'good old days'.

I can understand Hull KR fans not bothering, no excuses for Huddersfield.

I beg to differ, 8pm on any weekday is not good for travelling to away games, with the exception of Derby matches.
The M62 is horrendous on all evenings of the week and London / Catalan nigh on impossible.
Some people do still have jobs to go to

Almost, but he said 8 oclock on Monday was not a poor kick off time.
Beraring in mind there is a 50/50 chance of a yorks/ lancs game (or worse still London), then it does become harder for the true fans (those who go to the games), to manage to watch their team.

Doubt there are any but to be fair I didn't fancy the drive up from Derby on a Monday night either.

There seemed to be plenty that didnt fancy the drive from Fartown

But 5,000 in Fartown days would have been a dream, think people need to see how far the club have come before taking too many pot shots, the gates are poor but they have been a heck of a lot worse and the fact we are now thought of as a club who should be getting big gates is a compliment in itself.

TBF, credit where its due, Huddersfield have come on leaps and bounds over the past 4/5 seasons and although youve fallen of your perch over the past few weeks, there is no denying the fact that you are top 6 contenders.

Yawn. Does it still not occur to people that less than a decade ago, this would be considered a GREAT crowd for Huddersfield! Their gates have come on leaps and bounds and will continue to do so. Low crowds are going to become the norm for these Monday night fixtures, so get used to it.

We've all had a pop at Shudds for their poor crowds, but at the end of the day its really got bu**er all to do with us. If they're happy that's all there is to it.

Yes, but poor crowd figures are just as much the fault of the clubs involved. If they're not marketing their games and club to the fullest extent, they can't turn round and say "Sorry we've got crap crowds, it's Sky's fault for actual showing interest in the sport and actually broadcasting it and pumping money into it"

Yes it is, really !
Getting accross the M62 any evening is difficult and it doesn't take an awful lot to mean that attending fixtures "on the other side" after a days work is not always possible.
Many people finish a touch earlier on Fridays, but there isnt the same finish time on Mondays.
As I said in an earlier post, if its a local fixture, then there is no problem/ excuse but, try getting from Wigan/ Saints over to one of the Hull clubs and you have to finish work early or not go.
Its not rocket science, just rush hour traffic.
