That's the problem with these sort of threads picking a team, some have club bias, some it's purely you don't see enough of a player to really appreciate them. Don't mind o loughlin but don't see him as much as a Wigan fan and probably don't appreciate what he offers as much. All teams have them. As the poster above illustrates the "w@nkfest Leeds fans have over ablett. If he watched him week in week out he would appreciate the work he does more.

This is exactly it. I dislike how some fans get outraged when one of their players who is in good form doesn't get selected in a potential team. Luckily the England selectors have a much more balanced view and get to see nearly all the players week in week out. You can't select everyone so you're obviously going to pick the players in your team who have been standouts as you don't have the luxury of seeing everyone.

| Quote ="Code13"Sinfield has been shown to lack it at international level. Lomax can't do it at club level.
Chase, maybe. Widdop, needs to be on for more than 5 minutes.
As for O'Loughlin...well I can say the same thing about Kev Brown, I watch him week in and week out and he is class.
Regarding the bench, I can't believe I've missed off Larne Patrick. Scores tries for fun. Power of a prop, speed of a halfback.'" Lomax can certainly do it. Don't forget he won YPOTY last year from half back. Don't mistake his team's loss of direction for a lacking in individual ability. He was injured for the internationals last year but I think he'd have made as good as if not better fist of it than Chase did.
I like Brown and I think he got some undue criticism last time he had a run at international honours.
Patrick looks mustard this year. He's caught my eye in the past but seems to be hitting some great form. What are your thoughts on Crabtree? You've got some injuries in the forwards but are still top, is Eorl's form as a starting prop impressing you? I like him at international level, the Aussies seem a little wary of what to do with him.

| I base my thoughts on Lomax down to the fact he was uttery outplayed by Grix at standoff, that and his teams kak attack this season.
Patrick gets better and better, simple as that.
Crabtree lost some form last season, along with all the Giants players really, but this season he has come into his own, leading from the front, playing for 70+ minutes and loving it. He is also blessed with good pace, good hands and a smart brain, knowing when to be the decoy and knowing when to hit it up. He should be one of the first names on the sheet IMO.
The present England selection is worse than using a poll from this forum.

Mossop also has (and has had for a while now) been getting rave reveiws from his speccies and is making and average of over 8 yards per carry. So prop is going to be a very competetive position for us.
Going back to Lomax, his form will return when the debarcle of a season is put back on track. He's a very capable player and will be a international regular sooner or later. I'm sure of it.

| As a Giants fan and on current form i'd most certainly have Luke George, Leroy Cudjoe, Danny Brough, Luke Robinson and Larne Patrick with Greg Eden and Eorl Crabtree sniffing around too ( on their current form) but the problem with these threads is not everyone sees all the other players all the time so probably dont understand why fans of a certian club name certain players.

Hall & Charnley > George
Reed & Watkins > Cudjoe (who doesn't pass the ball nearly enough)
Brough will get in
Roby & Burrow > Robinson
Patrick should be in
Crabtree isn't playing too well according to another Hudds fan in this thread
Eden has Tomkins and Widdop to get past.

| I dont expect then to 'get in' i was merely stating if we are picking a current team on form then those are the ones from Huddersfield that are on form and would be in a form squad.

No one has suggested George should get in, at the moment he is on fire, but needs to carry on all season
Reed isnt better than Cudjoe, and if you think Cudjoe doesnt pass enough, you clearly dont watch the game mutch
Roby and Burrow are different players to Robinson. Robinson has at least ALWAYS performed well at international level when he has played, being one of the few England players to come away from the last world cup with any credibility
Crabtree is playing very well, if any Huddersfield fans say they arent, they dont watch much either - last season he wasnt in too great form
Eden is raw, but would benefit from being in the Knights squad. Give him a year or two.
Generally speaking, you talk tosh from what i have seen of your posts.

Should we just select the Huddersfield team then?

| George has played well so far but I think he is behind Charnley, Briscoe and BJB at the moment for the 'other' wingers spot. Reed formed a good partnership with Hall in the 4Nations and played well throughout. Theres nothing about Cudjoe that would scare Australia. However he is very good Super League player. Reed and Watkins are the best two centres at the moment for me with Atkins 3rd and cudjoe 4th. The World Cup was almost 4 years ago so how Robinson played in it then is irrelevant. Crabtree is a good player and could well force his way into the World Cup side. But currently is behind Graham, Morley and JP in the pecking order and Burgess depending on where he plays. I havnt seen enough of Eden to comment.
Just because your opinion is different to his. Doesnt make you right. Everything on here is all about opinions and reasoned arguments.

| People really underestimate Reed. One of the form centres in the NRL last year, and doing pretty well on his less-favoured left side this year (see the try he set up vs the Cowboys for a GREAT centre's pass). What he does is make the most basic centre task - setting up his winger - look easy, which I think is why people underrate him. Half the 'best' British centres I've seen may as well play with nobody outside them, as they seem to only pass as a last resort. That's why I like Watkins, and am yet to be convinced by Hardaker (who has time to learn, before anybody starts whining).
In total, so long as Tomkins is fit, we have the best 1-5 options available probably since the RU well dried up. That is something we should all be pleased about.
Our forward stock looks OK, but I'd be sorely tempted to move away from Morley and Peacock today as I have real doubts that they'll be up to scratch after almost another two seasons when the world Cup starts.
The glaring gap in the team is halfback. We desperately need the likes of Widdopp and Brough to step up a level. Otherwise the rest of the team has no chance against Australia.
