Again, highlighting the supposed hatred of Wigan rather than arguing the point of what Tomkins did last night.

| The kid has the potential to be a very good player, there's no denying that.
Let's be honest though when Morris went in for that first try for the Aussies Tomkins went in with the knees.
If anybody says different they are either blind or bias, which one is it.
And before any Wigan fan saying it's a Saints fan mouthing off about Wigan I would have said the same if it was a Saints player.

| Tomkins needs to man up and concentrate on actually playing, not acting the infantile, gobby, niggling git. or us manly widnes boys will sort him right out. this is his final warning or hes of to the naughty step i.e. the Halliwell Jones stadium

| I have no problem with Sam and his aggression, as I feel all half backs/full backs need it in a way, I just hope he channels it into a positive way. He's only 21 years old and I feel he will grow out of it eventually. His fantastic rugby ability will hopefully be making the headlines soon I'm sure of it.

| Made a bit of an ar$e of himself last night imo.
I am not questioning his ability or his aggression as his combative nature is what makes him so exiting. However if another player tried to stick the head on him in the tackle then i would be outraged.
I think that he will become a Wigan legend but he needs to stop the petulance.

I don't want to speak ill of the dead, but Terry Newton was like that when he was younger and unfortunetely it ended up ruining his career.
Just hope Tomkins can snap out of it....and quick!

You do see those things more often from more than just the player in question, You often see players lead with their legs in an attempt to stop the try being scored from close range, if that tactic was tried elsewhere it would almost certainly result in a penalty.
And your deluding yourself if you think players dont try to gain the advantage in the ruck by holding eachother, in defence or attack. It happens in every single game.
I just think when he does it, its a little more blatant, and he does look like one of those cheeky half backs you would love to smash.

This rule is an utter mess and needs a damn good sort out by the RFL.

| He's a very good player but he does do things that are questionable. I remember him playing againgst Leeds last season ( I think ) and getting two penalties from Kevin Sinfield by play acting that he was trapped and Sinfield wouldn't release him ( does that make sense ? ).

| I agree that this action is pretty poor, maybe a second earlier he may have prevented a try that way (under the ball), but at that point it was stupid as Morris isn't a terrible finisher like most wingers in SL - he's one of the best.
I hope he cuts it out, but I'm glad he hasn't inherited the tendency of many to slide in feet-first like many fullbacks do in desperation - that's far worse imo.

Exactly.
Yet JJB got penalised against Hull FC for pulling his arm free when it was trapped and disloding the ball in the process, Which is exactly what I would said would happen when it was first highlighted.
Like I said this needs sorting out.
Either the ball carrier gets penalised for holding the tackler or when the defender pulls him arm free as JJB did its a knock on the ball carrier can't have it both ways.

No, it was the fixture at the DW. You're thinking of the game at Headingley when the rugby gods attempted to extract their revenge for his blatant cheating.
