whats gone on there.
i was with a guy yesterday and he told me hes signed up as a bears member. i never took him for a RL fan, rich businessman who always liked union

DPS = double page spread. ie over the left and right pages.
You found the article and a link.
I SMSd a person on the bid asking him when they submit, he said when the NRL are ready.

so the bears coming first in an online poll of all nrl fans is BS
you are aware that people in queensland and elsewhere have the same access to an online site as sydney ones do?
stop making a fool of yourself, talk up your own bid.
51% of the 8000 people who voted in the survey want the bears in the nrl

if NZ don't win the next union world cup i would expect Rugby League to overtake union within 5 years as regards sponsorship and playing numbers. even in the long term Rugby League is going to overtake union in NZ its just a matter of time.

what NZ does in the union WC is irrelevant, thats short term
a 2nd NZ NRL side would be more important
if our next TV deal is a blockbuster well be able to raid the ranks of union players at will.
the S15 will be decimated

| RU was always dead and buried in nsw and queensland.....
The rebels lost 43 nil against the waratahs so it will die in melbourne too , they will not win a game all yr IMO.
Storm maybe cheats, but they are a world class team. And I bet they'll be in the GF this yr,so they stick up the NRL after last season fiasco.

A 2nd NZ NRL club in Wellington will be a huge blow for union in NZ.
A NRL club in Perth will be a huge blow for AFL in the TV viewers battle.
David Gallop and the NRL have the opportunity to put these lesser codes to the sword and i hope they do it. these lesser codes have tried every dirty trick possible to try and destroy us, as far as i am concered its pay back time now.

the funny thing was when the ARU had $50 million to spend, taking RL on and it wasted $35 million of it in 3 years, at the same time its crowds and ratings collapsed.
the problem with union is you just cant polish a t**d.

| What some posters on here struggle to understand is the money in union is in the international game - club RU has never been that well supported.
RL is supposedly the biggest gig in Australia - if this is so could someone explain why attendances for RU international dwarf those of RL. In England where soccer is king England draw the biggest crowds of any national sporting side no matter who they play.
Whilst ever RU internationals continue to draw 70k+ on a very regular basis and TV is prepared to pay big bucks for the rights RU will always have sufficient funds for the game to progress and keep its best players regardless of the TV deal for the NRL.
RU has survived for nearly a century as an amateur sport - those who think that because the NRL getting a big TV deal will be the final nail in the coffin of RU are sadly mistaken.
On NZ do kids playing rugby want to be Dan Carter or Benji Marshall?

In OZ people only care about their local clubs. For some reason sadly when it comes to the international game people don't give two hoots about it.Since NZ has won the WC in 08 and the four nations last year things may change since we have someone that could match us.Now It's up to the poms to stand up and deliver for a change.

| Go to ChCh. While the Canterbury Crusaders are famous the world over, I belive this is because of the Bronco factor if you will i.e 1 team town that has little to no competition. Bring in the South Island Bulls into the NRL (gutterfax should know that the Canterbury team in NZ League is called the Bulls)

Rah Rah in the 70's in Australia almost disappeared. We got belted by Tonga in one game from memory and they were still considered minnows.

The brits don't have a big enough pool of players to ever really challenge at international level - its a minority sport played in a small area of a soccer obsessed country - add to that SL teams full of very average NRL players - e.g. Salford.
Very poor coaches such as McRae would prefer the easy life of not having to develop young talent preferring instead to rely on has been Bulldogs - and he wonders why his teams get a hammering
