The North Stand? Yes, it is.
Is that what you meant by "on the cricket side"?
You are aware that those weren't the only corporate boxes though, aren't you?

Ah but how frequent is the service? Will it improve on match days? Normally I catch the 17.42 from Cas and 18.40 from Leeds to King's X to get me home after a game. Will I have to change my routine? I think we should be told!

You'll have to:
a) change your routine slightly i.e. go in the Tiger Bar for a couple of pints before catching the 18:35 train to Leeds or
b) walk to Cas station for the 17:42 which I assume comes from Sheffield and therefore doesn't go through Glasshoughton or

| As said, The Railway station is already in place, Adjacent to the Xscape Complex, There has been lots of work going into the highways section, To ensure there wouldnt be too much conjestion about on matchdays, And there will be ample parking, At the ground, Or in the nearby leisure complex's and overflows.
Obviously there are bars in Xscape, But i am sure there were plans to have a very large bar on matchdays for both sets of fans.
The plans look good, Just cant wait to see it finally start emerging.

Somehow, I foresee a potential problem if the gate is more than 5270 (5 to car and 60 seater coaches),
Cas fans are saying 8-9000+ regularly if the team REALLY hits their straps
The trains are not that frequent are they?
Is there a local FREQUENT bus service?
Is the ground within reasonable (say 2 miles) walking distance of the centre of Castleford and well lit with wide pavements and low dips for wheelchairs?
It is assumed that the designers, planners and those who generally will NOT use the facility, have accounted for this!!!

Or maybe, just maybe Xscape will be (or already said...) they would be happy to let match day traffic use the often empty Xscape overflow car park, the actual Xscape car park and the same applies for J32. Not to mention it's a short bus ride (or walk, if you feel particularly energetic) from the town centre to the stadium site. It isn't as though there's ONLY 886 spaces in the WHOLE of Castleford.

the route is the knottingley line with a train running every hour, not too sure about sundays but i couldnt see any more trains put on has its a already a busy line with it been the main freight line that serves drax, ferrybridge and eggborough power stations.
you could always walk from the glasshoughton to castleford station which wouldnt be any further than you do now.

Argh, the wonderful issue of parking space numbers!
The issue here is national guidelines on parking space numbers. Glasshoughton and Newmarket both have the guided number of spaces as per national & local planning regulations. The interesting bit about this document currently is that is knowingly and deliberately restricts the number of required car parking spaces! The reasoning behind this is simple... less parking spaces forces people to use public transport! Simple! Except that it does not work!
The current Government have already ripped up the guidelines restricting car parking spaces on new housing developments and have promised to look at other alternatives, such as greener car options and incentives to use public transport over car use. One assumes that they may do the same with commercial developments... but they have not yet.
Then of course we have the issue of the costs of providing more car parking spaces! Developers quite like having the number of car parking spaces restricted as it is cheaper and they can get more units per area, especially with housing, so while they might be able to now get away with providing more, will they do this and will planners force them to provide more... having just spent the last decade or more restricting the numbers!
So parking space numbers... interesting topic!

Hmmm interesting one, I would not be surprised to see Xscape and J32 put in an reserved matters objection pushing Wakefield MDC to force Castleford to provide more car parking spaces on site. It is a tricky one for them, they will get increased revenue but as everyone knows, the car parks to both Xscape and J32 are packed to bursting on a weekend and they won't want people buggering off over the bridge for two or more hours and not putting any money in the tills over that time period on busy weekend!
So, has an arrangement been reached with Xscape and J32 for regular Friday night games and abandoning Sunday afternoon fixtures where possible? Friday night at Xscape is busy but the J32 car park is getting quiet at around 6.30pm! Xscape would love that, more spaces and more money for them on a Friday and all the people are in their place before and after the game. However, will J32 like people using their car park... I suspect if Xscape come to an arrangement for Friday, Saturday or Sunday evenings by bunging some 'car park maintenance' cash their way then maybe yes!

| There has already been a bypass road put in from Junction 31, Which would miss most of the towns traffic.
As for the parking spaces. How many of the home fans would be parking up ?
I wouldnt have thought too many would. As for trains, I would have thought that there would be the potential of putting 1 extra service train if needed, And if the demand was there.

| I can see the junction32/xscape leisure outlets to be quite encouraging of this development, and only too willing to let people park oniste, as it will encourage thousands of new punters into their site to spend their disposable income.
Just think of the families from Wigan, St.Helens, Warrington etc making a full day out of it at Glasshoughton.
Hopefully the various leisure outlets will work together to encourage "cross pollination" of each others customers. Thereby maximising the sites income.

I am sure they were and are highly supportive of it but that would still not stop them pushing Wakefield planners into making the stadium car park bigger, which is my point. I think the issue is the two-hours + dead time they will suffer from while people are parked in their car park and not spending money on their sites, not the bit before and after. If Cas decide to charge for the on-site car-parking (although the planner could ask for a condition to prevent this) then a free car park just over the bridge would become the first option for many. I am not sure where Xscape's overspill is and how big it is is, but every time I go on a weekend the main car parks are heading towards full. You introduce a two hour stand still and then that causes Xscape and J32 a possible problem, a full car park, people wanting to come in, plenty of capacity on their sites but no-parking to accommodate them. You add that to people coming to make a 'day of it' and parking for 5+ hours but half of that away from their sites and you have a problem. They may introduce parking systems like at Wigan, Warrington, Huddersfield to prevent this happening but I do think that would be an error on their part.
It is just a small point for debate, nothing more, and brought on by people talking about car parking space allocations.
What would you think about moving to a regular Friday night or possible Sunday night spot (which would be great for Xscape if they could use J32 car parking) for Cas home games?
