Ah, the old "Warrington are cheating the salary cap" argument. It rears its ugly head every time we get a player to sign pen to paper. Yet you all seem to be forgetting that the cap is now live, and has been for some time. The RFL would never have registered the player if we weren't under the cap. Secondly, we have a brilliant finance manager who seems to know the operational rules inside out. I've met the man, he puts an awful lot of time into his job.

I do wonder how everyone seems to know every other clubs salaries and how much under the cap they are though.

Have to admit I wouldn't think it was possible to put a squad together as good as Warington's and fit it under the cap, but there's no real evidence of any skulduggery on their part. If anything I think they deserve praise for obviously not paying over the odds for players.

If this squad of Warringtons is sooooooo damned good then why havent they ever won superleague?

Wow, someone is bitter. Why does it stink of cheating? Hicks was considering retiring at the end of last year and has obviously discussed this with the club before making his decision. Monaghan has been training with the club and is obviously interested in teaming up with his older brother. It is interesting how much people on this site seem to know about what our players earn.

Monaghan won't be on as much as people think. Joel is getting the oppertunity to build his career back up. He will also have the support of his brother all the time now which would have made the move to warrington make more sense than going to the other rumoured club Catalans.

He's missing the point. It's not about Warrington being over the salary cap, the RFL are supposed to be taking care of that element. I don't believe the Warrington squad is 'too good' to be under the cap, it's not as good as Wigan's for example.

Chris Hicks' departure is where the cheating is.

The truth in this is no doubt that Hicks was gently leant on in order to take the decision to retire.

I think I'll trust the club on this one unless someone demonstrates where we have cheated as you suggest. I think to suggest cheating and dodgy deals have gone on is a little disrespectful to the club and to Chris Hicks but each to their own.

would hicks have retired if this monaghan scandal didn't happen? i doubt it, i think you would have to be very nieve if you believed hicks walked away with nothing, moran would have probably given him a nice pay off, doesn't mean it has to be seen on wires books, could've come from his buisness account or partners, there are ways of getting round the cap!

Whilst most on the board seem content with throwing about unsubstantiated accusations about Wires dealings id lile to buck the trend and congratulate them on a classy signing.

Yes he wouldn't be here if it werent for a bit of, well we all know what, but at the end of the day there is no doubting his quality and SL will be a better place for having him here- even its only for a season. It will be nice to see proven overseas players rather than the usual dross we are acustomed to.

Im no Warrington fan but it seems most are quick to criticise rather than congratulate them on taking advantage of an over blown event in Aus (im not going to get into a debate about the rights and wrong of the situation- not that there are any rights but you know what i mean!)
