| The most bizarre one for me was Cameron Smith clearly tapping the ball with his foot. That should have been play on.

| I'm not blaming the ref for the last 40 years. As I said, I don't mind getting beaten of great Australasian select XIII sides that tear teams to bits with amazing skill, that's great to watch. I do mind getting beat off a fat bloke with a mullet. The current Australasian select XII are poor, and are worried that after losing the RLWC, they will lose this. Only one thing for it, get the rich boys in and make the officials rich.

Tap.
Ref- 'James Graham's going to flatten you mate.'

Ref- 'That's fine Cammy lad, those are the rules'
James Graham- 'Ref?'

| The reason I don't like the international game that much is because we are letting it dictate or domestic game. We are now frowning at teams when they sign Australian players ahead of English players (who cares ?) and the fact it also runs the risk of the players playing too much over the course of a year.
I really think the best thing to do is just have a GB team play the Aussies or Kiwis every four years and just leave it at that. Lets be honest the rest of the international scene is a joke. Being allowed to play for more then one country, Countries full of players who ain't actually born in that country and not to mention the biased referee's.

| What good would having the kangaroos win year in year out do for the international game?
If anything the officials would be instructed to bring the contests closer

| I don't think the ref was too bad tbh, the Smith tap restart was a bit unprofessional because you expect the refs to stick to the rules, and there was one try from a blatant forward, but the rest were 50-50. The BOD try after the Cronk knock on was a video ref mistake not a ref mistake (I don't think the Aussies themselves were really convinced by that one).

It's because the ARL are incompetent, corrupt dinosaurs. If you think they have any interest at all in even preserving let alone developing international RL then you are kidding yourself. They are dinosaurs and their sole intention is to maintain Australian dominance.

| I think you’ll find that there’s a corruption underbelly in anything that’s mainstream in this society.
Remember when a few NRL players got shot at in the off season a few years ago?
That’s what happens if you don’t throw games for criminal overlords who decide the games winners and loser given the chance. Thankfully more often than not good beats bad!

Good post, also how did Adrian Lam get to play Origin?, had he already represented P.N.G? did he continue his international career after?
Do the A.R.L change the rules when they see fit?

I'd roughly agree with that.

| I genuinely believe that our full time referees are a hell of a lot better than the NRL equivalent. Some of the calls they have given over the past season have been dreadful.

| Well if cricket managed to work out 20 years ago that home umpires are generally obliged to side with the home side, why hasn't Rugby League?
Having said that, on the occasions English refs have taken charge of GB/England vs. Australia games, they have been more than fair for both sides.
Jeebus, we even let them bring their own ref in 2003! That's when the RFL should have said "Enough!", and insisted on a panel of International referees for all games.
McNamara or Graham should come out now and tell it like it really is, instead of hiding behind diplomatic answers.

| Lam played S o O as his first club was Brisbane Norths hence his Queensland qualification.
Aus v England in Australia with an Aussie ref. That's supposed to be impartial?
That is partial, partisan and biased.
Decisions made bringing that about are rotten to the core!

| Quote ="Conorgiantsfan"International Games are a shambles. Barry McKenzie is having an giddy fit at this. But 34-14 wasn't a final score that reflects the game.
Tate's Try - Dropped
First Try - Ball Dropped before Grounding by Other Player
Forward Pass - Try.
There's 18 (or 16) points that shouldn't have been conceeded. That's 18-14. Lunt's try was perfectly fine. Ref's call WTF is that. 22-18.
We won
'"
Thing is, it's never about that. If a team goes behind by quite a few points, they can lose concentration, play catch up rugby and move away from a game plan. All sorts of factors com in to play.
Out tries were well executed, the first carving the aussies right up. (Though on the news here, it was an lapse in the aussie defence). Compare that to a knocked on bomb and a crap pass hitting the deck and then begin picked up by Lewis to pass and score.

| People keep saying we were making loads of mistakes, but would this have been the case had we not been knackered and demoralised by a bent ref? Anyone who plays any sport knows that mistakes happen when morale and concentration levels drop due to fatigue.

| I'm not sure corrupt is the right word but there are major problems with the fabric of international rugby league.
When you have an Australian refereeing Australia he can go one of 2 ways. Either be biased towards Australia or be biased towards the opposition because he is trying too hard not to be biased towards Australia. It's only natural and is unfair to put a referee in that postion. I'd rather have a s**t neutral ref than a fantastic partizan one. All internationals HAVE to be reffed and video reffed by neutrals.
Secondly, once a player has represented a country he has chosen his rugby league nationality and should no longer be permitted to play for any other nation, developing or not.
I don't expect us to go down under and whallop the Kiwis and Australians but i do expect a fair crack at the whip, in all honisty i don't feel we got that this time.

| Thinking about referees. I assume the international board is made up of representatives from each nation. So if it is England v Austraila, the representatives of those nations should have no say in the selection of the referee hence he would be selected by New Zealand, France, Wales and whoever else is on the board.

Tried to explain the RLIF set up. Quite biased.

Your post makes it sound like there is some sort of structure or organisation to what happens, and there isn't. There is no RLIF. They don't have offices, any employees, any constitution or even a website. The RLIF is the ARL, they do whatever they want and they aren't going to surrender power. The only way to stop this would be either for England to boycott test matches and invite NZ, Australia and the Pacific Nations to join an expanded RLEF, which isn't going to happen, or we wait for Love and Carr to retire/die and hope that the people who replace them are more willing to listen to reason.
