Its a pointless arguement anyway, all these accusations that its the RL that damages the pitch is pathetic. When Everton made a complaint about the pitch, we hadnt even been on it for months. Nobody thought to take into account the location combined with so called poor draining and topped off with the worst winter in years. We even aviod playing at home during may so there is time to sort out the pitch.

Quote ="FearTheVee"I don't think Wire own their ground '"
Owner - Warrington Sports Holding - which I believe is the holding company for Wire
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halliwell_Jones_Stadium
Quote ="Bondi_Warrior"Not sure about Saints but Salford, deffinatley not as its a joint venture between the council and Peel. Highly doubtful Wakey or Cas could afford it outright, likely to be a mix between council, private company and themselves. Do Warrington fully own the ground? As many new stadiums are joint ventures between council, private company and the club themselves. '"
I'd agree often they are joint ventures, however often the councils will simply "give" the club their share of the ground or not demand a share in the first place. For instance, and I could be wrong in this, but I was under the impression that for Cas & Wakeys new stadiums the council would provide £2m each without demanding a share of ownership of the ground. Although I can't see the private companies involved doing similar!
Still not sure about Hull KR, can't really find any definitive info about New Craven Park, although to be honest Im not trying that hard!

| The KC is owned by the council, they would have a riot on their hands plus have to find 30million quid to rebuild the Boulevard if they tried to kick FC out. If anything it is City that would have most to lose from this ruling as it would effectively mean they couldn;t be promoted without finding a new stadium to play in.

| Trinity have sold BV and are due to receive the balance upon their departure from the ground. Next season is their last regardless of what happens at the planning meeting due in September. They will not own the new stadium but will be anchor tenants. The Wakefield & District Community Trust will own the stadium.

| Wigan own a ground. Wigan council wouldn't help Whelan with the cost of a new stadium for Latics, but when Whelan bought Wigan RL, they then helped with the cost, around 50%, as it would be used for both sports. What the terms of the contract state, i don't know, but for Whelan to buy Wigans lease out would then give Wigan a healthy sum to start looking elsewhere.
It would be unfair for Latics to be kicked out of the PL because they share with an RL club.

| Catalan Dragons ground is council owned, the new stand is funded by the council and the new build at the other end are municipal swimming baths, according to the landlord at the sauce bar, the mayor of Perpignan is a staunch supporter of the kick and clap brigade and had the swimming baths built so that the dragons could never have a better ground than his team. Maybe a dragons fan would know more.

If you read the section marked Lincoln City you'll also understand why Keighley fans hate Br*dford and it's useless council so much.

| Oh god, please let this be true. It would be hilarious if Wigan got kicked out of the football club owned stadium and had to play at Orrell (which wouldnt be superleague standard)
The smile on Whelans face will be unreal and the best payback to an upstart of a club, who had treated the man who saved them from extinction by basically spitting in his face and telling him to eff off.

Bye Wigan, it's been emotional

Far bigger Premier league soccer club. what an absolute laugh
Latics are losing money hand over fist and with a tight wad as chairman, who's just signed a 50 year lease with Wigan RLFC, apart from having the bo**ocks sued off him, they need the cash that Warriors generate.
just to put you straight, latics do not own the DW stadium, it is owned by a company called Whelco, of which both latics and the Warriors are tenants.
Also, if it ever did come to Wigan leaving the RL, it wouldn't just be Wigan you'd be waving too, it would be professional RL. Cos lets face it, go anywhere in this country and mention RL, the first name out of the hat is always the mighty Wigan, with an occasional Leeds and less occasional Saints. As for the rest, forget it.

Are you speaking from a future viewpoint, because you have just negated Leeds current remarkable "occasional" 3 in a row achievements.

League leader and a challenge cup. Not a lot but it's a bit more than FA.
Can't believe the amount of sh*t being posted on this.
Wigan athletic are barely a premier league side. They'll go soon, if we were somehow 'forced out' then we would be going with a huge lump of cash.

When did they win the league ladder, I am sure I saw Hudds spoil the little party? Also, the CC was 9 years ago. Straws, clutching me thinks!

| TBH and I could be wrong here but if the players wages in the PL continue as they are then that league is going to go bang in a major way anyway sooner or later (I would assume sooner).
Its simple economics the more players get paid the more in dept clubs get or the more they charge for entry which means less people can afford the entry fees either way it can't continue.
The PL just can't see it though.
I mean how many daddy Warbucks are out there ffs.

| Wigan can't be kicked out, if they were, they would get compo and sell Orrell. They'd be fine, Athletic would be stuffed. Good.
Most clubs have long leases on grounds and this ownership thing is a pointless arguement. Most new builds are build by private companies or councils and then leased back to sports clubs.
I'm more happy that the people who have to worry at the moment are whatever RU teams are in QPR, Reading and Watfords grounds because those football teams have mad, rich owners who I reckon could kick those lot out at the drop of a hat.
