Looking at stats to decide that Monaghan should or shouldn't be Man of Steel is floored. Saying that he is just an organiser is ridiculous.

He'll definitely be a big contender, as will the Wigan players mentioned but they will need to prove themselves in the big matches at the end of the year to make sure they get noticed by their peers. Monaghan has risen to the big occasion in the last year with standout performances in Warrington's challenge cup games, particularly the final and semi-final where he was the best player in both games. His defence is tough, and his vision from dummy-half is fantastic. He's been instrumental on Warrington's excellent start to the year and it's no coincidence that we've lost the games he's missed for Warrington this year (from memory Hull Kr and Leeds away).

I'm not saying he is just an organiser but his main skill is controlling the game. He will have to come up with some more big plays in big games, maybe this sunday will be his chance to really stand out with a try to win the game.

Yep, Joel Tomkins is my choice at the moment.

Trent Barrett was miles better that year. Someone like you wouldn't realise this.

He just looked very good in a very rubbish Wigan team.

Looks like Richards, Graham and King for the short list. These 3 should be worried because Roby is emerging as a very serious contender.

Well those who voted for Roby evidently didnt realise it either.Damo wasnt on his own.The fact that Wiganers are still harping on about this makes me laugh louder every time i hear them.

O'Loughlin is the real stand-out for me.

Richards, Morley, Graham & Kev Brown could be in with a shout though.

I’m going for Pat Richards as he’s been fantastic for Wigan this term. No doubt the best winger in super league at the moment

He’s also turning out to be the best Australian player ever to play for Wigan and that takes some beating considering the history of the club. Thing is Richards is like this every season. Only he seems to be doing much better with Michael Maguire in charge. Hopefully the end of season stats will back that up

Rubbish, its more difficult to look good in a bad team

Barrett almost single-handedly got a "rubbish" wigan team into three semis in two seasons, he was the most skillful import since Jamie Lyon



he was as good if not better last season, still good this season but nowhere near Lockers or Joel as wigans player of the season for me

How can people nominate Tomkins but not Eastmond ? I'm not impressed by Tomkins what bit this season to be honest. He's done nothing in his 2 games vs Saints and apparantly Wigan want to shift him to fullback.

Good player but no hope in hell of winning MOS.

Also, we don't want to shift him to FB because he is poor at stand off, we just feel he would be awesome there as he was earlier in the season at Widnes. I would love to see him in that position against better opposition.

I don't expect him to win it but I'm always amazed how little credit Willie Manu gets. Should at least be in the dream team imo.

In another thread you said you havn't been watching RL that long yet you are willing to suggest that Pat could be our greatest aussie ever.

He is nowhere near some other aussies we have had.
