On the budget cuts thread, in the sin bin, you spout a load of rubbish, get completely bossed in the discussion, and try to change the subject by randomly bringing Robert Mugabe into the discussion. Here you get shown up as a troll with no knowledge of the team you apparently support, so you make spurious claims that im a troll and a salford fan (im not sure quite what i have to do with a thread on the south wales scorpions), in a way which to be brutally honest comes across as a pathetic attempt at deflecting attention away from your lack of knowledge.
Did anyone fall for it:

The grounds which you make comparisons with are arguably the worst gounds in the league, which are so bad the clubs felt the need to make wild promises of new stadiums in the near future, in order to get a franchise spot. It is also worth noting that the clubs have been warned by the RFL that the grounds are not up to scratch. Therefore neither the RFL, nor the clubs themselves think that the grounds are up to SL standards.
When did playing at a ground, which is comparable to those descibed above, become an argument for a team being put into super league?

| Quote ="JonM"To be fair, Scotland and Ireland were better than France at the last world cup, so this is hardly a radical prediction. Unlike Scotland/Wales/Ireland/Fiji/Samoa/Tonga, they don't get to pick too many Aussies.
At the current rate of progress in Wales (and lack of it in France), the numbers playing at amateur level might not be hugely different in a few years time. (Currently around 15 clubs in Wales vs around 70 in France.)'"
It's less to do with amateur clubs and more to do with the quality of players coming through the professional ranks, of which France's aren't very good.
The NZ example wasn't meant to be a direct comparison more the fact that Wales do have plenty of players coming through SL academies, France have Catalans, Toulouse and well.. that's it
And HH they've signed another aussie recently, last fortnight or so.

really? are you sure? the club house is nice sure but as bad as the main stand at wakey is i don't seem to recall it being temporary. the gnoll has potential to be a decent SL ground if they could build a permanent stand but thats a little difficult.
i'm happy to see scorpions in cc1 for a few years building the foundations. CC would be nice eventually but do you honestly think that atm with crowds of 500 ish and sitting mid table in cc1 the scorpions are really likely to be in SL in 5 years?
even 2018 is pushing it. 2024 would be my bet and is a nice time to build a good squad from schools level upwards.

| Never SL in 5 years. But if they build on crowds towards 2k and the current championship teams don't improve, they will overtake them as they arn't in the M62 corridor. I wouldn't go knocking any hope out of Scorpions so early in the clubs development.

So what have this team got to offer the people of South Wales that Celtic Crusaders didnt have?
The more well read amongst you may remember that Barry McKenzie attended a Celtic Crusaders 'match' against Leeds last year in Newport. It was easily the worst event (or non event) I have ever had the misfortune to attend. It was poorly attended...despite most of the tickets around me being freebies. The ground was absolutely shocking. The atmosphere ... well apart from someone letting a huge firework off as the teams ran out and half a dozen people chanting 'Sheep sheep sheep sh*ggers' for 2 mins or so (worryingly it seemed to be the Welsh fans chanting this ) there was no atmosphere whatsoever.
Cant remember the score but it was something like Celtic 0 Leeds 246.
FACT.
The people down in South Wales arent really interested in league. Certainly not enough of them to justify this outfit trying to get into SL.
Celtic didnt catch on.
Nor will this.
Here endeth the lesson

| Yep, you're right like normal. You're opinions are more important than anyone elses.
Scorpions are doing it right, the thing that upsets people in the heartland is when a new club is set up and then get promoted above your team that has been trying for decades to win trophies and get into the top division. That's why people like Skolars and Scorpions.

Thank you for your kind comments.
Barry Mckenzie doesnt have a problem with any teams wanting to play footy but the way people are talking, South Wales Scorpions are going to be in SL within 10 years.
My question is what would they bring to SL that Celtic didnt?? Not enough people in South Wales seem to care about RL if Celtic were anything to go by.
*cue the 'oh but we would have gone of that Samuel bloke wasn't running the show' garbage*
Barry McKenzie thinks there are a few things in life that just arent meant to be.
Rugby League being popular enough in South Wales to justify a full time well supported professional footy team is one of them

| What jonny the leyther is saying, is if they build slowly and build a good team, fanbase and stadium, they have as much right to apply for SL as anyone. So why slam them now?

| I havn't seen it, how bad is it? I agree with you there's not much chance Scorpions could be in SL in the next two franchise rounds. If they get into the schools, promote well, work on the back of Crusaders being in SL, why can't they succeed?

Someone posted a pic of it on here a while back, trust me mate its shocking.
It looks like someone has thrown black paint on a flouro pink shirt then done a burn out on a Honda Fireblade on top of it.
Celtic tried all this and it never caught on. The franchise in Wrexham seems to be going marginally better yet even they can only get 6k to a Wigan game, on a sunny Saturday where the game isn't televised

That was supposed to be a special edition for their cancelled friendly against Wigoon. The bright pink one is now their first choice kit.

1. Cardiff City's FA Cup Final
2. The Blues had a final on the sunday
id imagine these two factors may have had some bearing as to where people spent their money on the Welsh Sporting weekend.

| It's a cracking top the special edition one, the others.. well.. look terrible.
And jonny the only reason people accept the Skolars and Scorps is because they're cr*p, I bet, and I mean I'd put money on this, they day they look like competing for the Championship would be the day the old Celtic arguments got wheeled out, just like they did after Crusaders got promoted

Surely you arent suggesting that all these millions of league fans in the principality who are just waiting to rise up and attend Crusaders matches would sooner watch soccer and that other sport with 15 men a side of which name that we dare not speak of?
