I don't think you can call the man soft. If he was soft he would have left the field and not returned when it happened. Ferriol is an absolute beast of a man. He won't have met many people in Union with that kind of impact and solidity. They are built for pushing power and in league its about winning the collision.

He was brave to carry on and I'd have loved to have seen him playing league in his prime. Centre will be is position me thinks.

I dont think He would give any cliche's i have heard a lot of interviews and he sounds like a very genuine, respectful and honest bloke. Whatever happens in his RL career he is doing it for the right reasons and i applaud him for that.

Alfie CLEARLY has a few skills to pick up (which most people actually THINKING about his debut would have expected).

The Cats players looked like they were giving him a "special welcome" but nothing he couldn't handle. He's been tackled harder and faster by bigger men than them.

Sure he's doing some dumb stuff from time to time but he'll pick it up. And he's a good enough rugby player to keep his place whilst learning. Certainly in the Crusaders. Maybe not if he played for Leeds or Saints

If he can steer clear of injuries (his age is against him here) then i'm sure he'll adapt soon enough. Plenty of match practice and training required.

Can't believe the over reaction on here. It's as if a player has not been concussed before. He showed a lot of bottle to actually play the ball immediately after and carry on for as long as he did. I can think of many lesser players who wouldn't have played the ball never mind carry on for so long.

Anyway, let's judge him when he has a full 80 minutes with a clear head. Or we can go the route of blasting a player when they're injured and start slagging off people when they physically can't carry on. "A broken leg? Try running it off you big girls blouse."

I don't know if he will be able to say if one is more physical than the other. I think, and what I was alluding to earlier, is that on the whole the contact is more intense in RL but of a longer duration in RU. Sort of boxing against wrestling. It's just a different type of contact.

It will take a while for his body to adjust to the different requirements placed on it but I hope he goes well for the Crusaders.

I'm obviously not watching the RU, but apparently Alfie is doing the touchline summary and was interviewed before the game and he was massively positive about RL, saying he loves it and wishes he had come 10 years earlier etc. I'll try and find a link or quote in a bit if they put it online or something, but knowing the BBC any positive publicity for RL will be buried as far as possible.

I DID watch the Wales v Italy match and Alfie was indeed very enthused by TGG (and completely lucid - so he's shaken off the lump to his crump) and expressed a keeness to get back on the field.

Funnily enough the closest thing to negative comments came for Jonathan Davies, when asked if Henson and Powell would be next to move North. With a disdainful and dismissive smirk he said "Nooo it'll never 'appen". But that was the expedient thing to say during a flagship RU match when representing his WRU loving BBC paymasters. He's a two-faced smug little shiit that Jiffy.
