| Elland Road is dated. The only modern stand is the East Stand.
As for the mexican waves, as stated by other posters it is a sad day in our games history when we see numpties doing this. You expect this is a boring England football friendly but not in our game.

| I think different parts of the ground have different ammounts of legroom.
As i posted earlier i was in the back row of the east stand and had no leg room at all & stood through all the match.
However as most of the east stand emptied prior to the trophy presentation
i wondered down the stand close to where the australian supporters were,
sat down & hey,presto...just had enough leg room

| I went a few years back for a Man Utd game and went last night. On both occasions I've thought it's a dump.
Traffic was terrible with them having traffic lights everywhere, and we had set off early from Warrington. The car parks are dangerous with terrible surfaces and bad lighting.
The seats look like they're put on top of old terracing so there are big steps behind you. And the seats are so close together.

| International RL needs a home IMO to play all the big matches, and it has to be in Leeds as it is central in RL terms and has the most RL fans in that area. A deal with Leeds United would be great to build a ground.
Murrayfield
Twickers
Millienium stadium
Stade de France
Aviva stadium
This just puts RU so far ahead of RL at international level!
We need a home to build the sport from. RU is built on international rugby which stems from twickenham.

| Perhaps if we had invested some of the tv money in building a stadium instead of paying over the hill players large contract we could have had our own ground with regular fixtures played at the same time every year...who knows people may get use to turning up...just a thought but you lot would sooner play daft money to players

| We were in the John Charles stand. I thought the stand was shambolic. There isn't enough spill out area under the stand, the internal access route up stairs is too small and vormitories are also too small. Stewards were too heavy handed - basically mauling every person for their ticket before they could sit down. These factors caused a ridiculous bottle neck of people under the stand at the beginning of the game. I went to an adjacent vormitory to get to my seat and was told to go back to the bottle neck as this is where my ticket stipulatged I should go. I explained the situation and said it was creating a health safety issue, but was laughed at by the steward and told to go to the other vormitory.
Also, we couldn't take alcohol on the stand - no respect for rugby fans. Then again this didn't matter because they ran out of lager half an hour before kick off.
I read the top tier of the largest stand was out of use, as the council has health and safety concerns about it.
Dated, shabby and badly run, not to mention geographically poorly positioned as far as transport access is concerned. Eastlands is the best option for me with Anfield, Reebok and Hillsborough close behind. The Don Valley would even be better!

Bang right...i thought the same going in last night.....how that place was once a premier soccer venue i dont know.....and its a surprise you dont have riots with soccer hooligans in that ground the way everyone is ram raided in. When we went through the turnstyles you could bearly get through as everyone was queing en mass to get up to the concourse. one or two pushes and you could eaisly get a crush scenario in there. YOu wouldnt think it would be allowed in this day and age but elland road is a concern.....i would dread to go to a soccer game there as one ounce of trouble under the concourse could lead to some serious inkuries or worse!

I study events management, so I have some understanding of the legalities of venues. So, what I don't understand is how this stand is legal. A Vormitory needs to be at least two people wide, but they clearly aren't in this stand. The access routes in the stand again should be of a similar width, but they clearly weren't. Best practice is to have two stewards to each Vormitory, but there were more than this on each one. With four to five stewards on each vorm and their heavy handed approach of checking tickets it made getting people to their seats very difficult.
My concern was if there was a need to evacuate the stand in an emergency. Not only would it be difficult to get people off the stand, but if it happened when there was the bottle neck god knows what would happen; you have one large group of increasingly agitated fans going one way and a another jumpy set going another way, access routes that are far too small and stewarding practices that I don't believe are up to scratch.
The RFL come down on clubs like Trin, Cas and Salford about their facilities, but for one of their showpiece games they decide that it should be held at a dire venue, the only merit of which is that it is in Leeds and its big. I don't believe this is fair on the spectators.

| I think eastlands should be considered in the future.
seats 50,000, no pillars to peer round, plenty of parking around the ground
modern, and i think its council owned
Sat in all four stands at elland road over the years and the east stand aside it isn't up to scratch for a major final anymore

I'll repeat this because you don't seem to be getting this...
Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd etc don't want us on their pitches in the middle of November and [size=200they don't need the money[/size we offer, the only reason we use Elland Road is because it's run by someone other than a soccer clu b.

Well, liverpool & man utd are in the red, man city no doubt have bills to pay, who says they wouldnt host it?
Im pretty certain these club have held rock concerts there in the past and let thousands of fans onto the (granted covered) playing surface in the summer, yet they wouldnt for 80 minutes of rugby in november?

Have you spoken to all these clubs to get this information?
Man United seem quite content to have Rugby on their pitch only 5 weeks before and are quite happy to take the money then. Man City's Eastlands ground is also owned by the council, and was largely funded by the taxpayer, as far as I am aware. Liverpool aren't exactly flush with cash at the moment either and need every penny that they can get for their new ground.

Funny as it may seem, yes I did, two seasons ago when we had the same stupid debate.
Man Utd have a contract with the RFL, if it were down to the football side of the club they'd tear that up too.
No football club wants RL played on their pitch in the middle of November, the pitch is gonna get a hammering and if the weather closes in then it causes mayhem for the ground staff, a hugely different than having a concert there during the summer with the pitch covered.

| I found the seats in the Revie stand very uncomfortable indeed, not to mention the farce we had getting our seats due to the rows been lettered wrong.
i had the bloke who was in the seat in front of me virtually sat on my lap everytime someone on his row wanted to go to the loo/bar and when someone on our row needed to get out i almost had to stand on my seat to let them through.
good for atmosphere, e for comfort i thought.

Even if you did I very much doubt you spoke to anyone with any sort of sway in the matter. I suppose though you spoke to the Glazers, George Gillett and Tom Hicks as well as Manchester City Council.

A contract which was extended last year so they must be happy enough with rugby being played there. If as you say they dont need the money and it causes so much damage to the pitch then why extend it, particularly if the Football side are so against it.

| Here's a crazy idea.
Some are banging on about the RFL building a stadium as a RL base, for internationals, etc. How about - seeing as they're struggling to get things off the ground - the RFL get together with Salford and build a 40,000 seater stadium designed for and geared towards RL. A compact stadium, a bit like the Reebok, with the seats close to and over the pitch, great for an intimidating atmosphere, and indoor and outdoor training facilities, gyms, etc. Assuming a two-tier design, let Salford use the lower tier only. We could take votes from fans to name the stands (The Karalius Stand, the Prescott, the Hanley, etc...), sell the naming rights (The Carnegie RFL stadium?), and also sponsor the stands (the O2 Boston Stand!). Amateur finals could be played there, schools finals, university finals, Challenge Cup semi-finals, etc.
Hear me out. It's bang on the M60, walkable from The Trafford Centre. There are great bus connections to the TC, and possibly eventually a Metrolink connection. The only issue might be traffic jams, but it's not as though other grounds don't suffer from congestion. It's easy to get to from all the heartlands from the M60, M62, M61, East Lancs, M56, etc. The train station at Patricroft is a bit of a walk, but the RFL could lay on shuttle buses for big games. You could even fly into Barton!
No, it'll never, ever happen. But imo it would be great. Even if it wasn't at Salford.

Sounds good to me. I suggested similar at Leeds due to having a premiership Football team who could rent it. It is just the finance which is the trouble

How many fans do we have in total ?
100,000 in SL , another 20,000 in the Championships

Happy to have the one game there, in October. A world of difference weather wise to the middle of November.
There is also the fact that the GF fills Old Trafford, I would imagine we need to get somewhere close to that to make a profit, now seen as we haven't had a 70k+ crowd for an international since Adam was a lad and give that if England didn't qualify the crowd would be substantively less that the 30k that were in Leeds I'd guess we'd be on a loser playing at OT.

| It was well beyond "poor". The crush in the East Stand at half time was ridicoulous and could have easily have become a really dangerous situation.
Should never be used as a Rugby League stadium again.
