In 2005 at the cas v rochdale match goulding decided to make obscene gestures to the crowd (and he made sure it wasnt the end of the away stand with all those loud men in it, no he did it to the quiet end full of families).
Cant stand the bloke.

| When I read 'Goulding New France Coach' on teletext I thought there must be an Aussie of the same name. Couldn't believe he got the job. I've heard many stories from reliable sources which mean that he cannot be respected and I can't understand why France employed him. Why weren't they told?

Surprised it made the Aussie press. The amount of bad behaviour in Australian RL, I thought you had to at least punch a woman to get in their press. Drunk ex-player is an everyday occurrence.

| Might not be very poplar on here, but I'll defend Bobby to a point.
If he did anything that warrants GBH (e.g. hitting Ganson), then I can't defend him, even if it is Ganson! But he really cares about the Fench team, and if the original times report about him being peeved that the French symbol isn't on the trophy, then I can see why a guy with his commitment to the French cause and a firey temper might thinkthat.
For him to be sacked would be a great reversal to the French game. He's got the playing again as they can, and restored the French with a bit of aggression (which maybe a reflection of hi own character) which was always part of the best French sides.
I met him after the Wakey game in Perpignan and you could tell he really cares about the french cause.

I agree with what you are saying but...... He is the coach of a professional national rugby league team and therefore has to act in a professional manner especially when it come to functions such as this one. If he could control his temper and get his passion out in other ways then he can only be good for the French game. Trouble is its a very big if.........

We all care about the French cause but I also care about people who get beaten up at taxi ranks, referees who get attacked or young lads who get attacked.

At 70k for a part time job, so would I.
The man is a complete ringpiece end of and judging by the link earlier about the Warrington incident the little tool needs a spell inside rather than a plum job in RFL. Great advert for the game.

Completely agree wit you on that. If he has done anything which encourages that behaviour then he should be sacked and he only has himself to blame. Will be a shame for the French game though if he has.
My hope is that his behaviour wasn't as serious as some of the reports might suggest and that he'll get his wrists slapped and learn a lesson.

| Once an aggressive little gobsh*te, always an aggressive little gobsh*te. Bobby's got so much previous, I can't believe the frogs signed him up. I can only imagine they were all half cut when the contract was pulled out.
Having said all that, it's such a shame - I thought that with the way he carried himself and spoke about French RL throughout the tournament, he might've turned a corner

| Bobby (Bobbie) without drink is a smashing lad who will always stop and have a chat about the game of Rugby League.
Bobby (Bobbie) with a drink inside him is a man to be avoided.

Sounds like a man with a drinking problem, a disease that needs support to get through, not condemning. (Though acceptance and facing up to your actions is part of the process).

| He's made a mistake and hopefully will be allowed to sorted his alleged drink problem out. He's already put some passion back in the French team and who knows where they can progress to with Bobby at the helm.

I can only assume you've never had a shed load of ale with him?
I'd agree with the others on here that have suggested he might need some help tho. When he's not lagered up, he comes across as a caring bloke, with all the time in the world for anyone - and he's a brilliant family man by all accounts. He's just no good on his own propping up a free bar.
I met Andy Greg a few years back in the Coogee Bay Hotel - absolutely steaming he was. Sad as that was in itself, there were a bunch of ex Aussie internationals in too (think Blocker Roach might have been one of em?) They were all on the p1ss but didn't even consider 'having a word' with Greg, despite the fact he was making a complete tit of himself. It's just not the culture and that makes it very difficult for someone like him or Bobby.
Hope the big cheeses of world rugby league, who might otherwise just bust him, actually consider all of that and realise that with support, Bobby can be a great lad to have around.
At the same time, he has to realise what he's capable of (his comment would suggest he doesn't always remember). Ultimately, we all have to help ourselves in these situations. We all have our vices (I know I certainly do), but you've got to have some semblence of yourself.

I was at primary school with him, knew him from the age of 5. He spent hours every day with a rugby ball in his hand, even at that age - one of the reasons places like Widnes could churn out so many great players in the past.
I have seen him be aggressive or abusive many times. And I certainly wouldn't want to be around him when drink was available.
