I think you're doing SoL a massive disservice there and before Saturday his performances in an international jersey were more convincing than Sinfield's, who has been dropped more than once for being ineffective.

| Quote ="Damo-Leeds"At all angles.
Sinfield has been the best 13 at club level for the past three years in super league as shown by the points he’s amassed and winning the big award. He’s also been instrumental in the international set up - not always I will admit that.
Sean O'Loughlin in comparison has just looked good in a few super league regular round games and you might want to chuck in a few challenge cup games and maybe the odd (not that anything really stands out) international.
Sinfield is an all round class act for both county and club level at the moment just like the Melbourne Storm lads who’ve been nominated rightly for the golden boot. Anyone who thinks Sean O'Loughlin is a better player I respect they opinion but they over glorifying him into something he’s not.'"
right then damo time for my return arguement.
sean o'loughlin has many aspects sinfield doesnt have, number one being a brutal defense. He puts so many shots on and his technique is fantastic. he also works the ground extremely well and is a very good niggler at the play the ball, he leads wigan by example with the aggression he puts into his tackles and he can be ferocious in the contact, i recall him putting a screaming shot on one of the castleford players in the playoffs off a richards drop out and the whole ground felt it that night.
O'loughlin also doesnt have the luxury to be surrounded by a top quality team; especially this season since the departure of barrett, Oloughlins leadership skills, which have been brought into question in the past, have shone this season and he is developing into a fine captain. No doubt he will always be compared to previous 13's who have played for wigan but in his own right SOL could become a wigan legend at 13.
O'Loughlin also has an attacking game and that was evident to see throughout this season, he has stood up and has ran some cracking lines for wigan, he makes tremendous yards and has a varied kicking game (remember the city of manchester test when his kicking game was the turning point). o'loughlin is more of an out and out 13 whereas sinfield could be seen as more of a standoff, however sean also played stand off during his early wigan career quite successfully.
O'Loughlin also never fails to perform at international level, even when played out of position in the second row, he is extremely highly respected in australia as being a player who can cause the aussies some damage, also with his high impact defensive game he would go very well in australia. pity he is injured this year because i have no question lockers would be in that line up and rightfully so.

| It almost brings a tear to the eye as a long term Sean O'Loughlin supporter to see he's finally changed so many people opinions on him
He's a super player and is the only player that can hold a candle to Sinfield as a superleague 13. At that level Sinfield is outstanding but he unlike Lockers hasn't been able to transfer that form to the internationals until this series.
In future series there is a place for both in the 17 imo which we may not have thought before because Sinfield seems to have found a position at hooker that suits his game down to the groud. As for O'Loughlin he can play make at 13 if you need or he can play like Gareth Ellis in the second row and just run and bash people.

| Don't see why people are arguing that Sinfeild has had a better team around him because remember Burrow, Mcguire, Diskin, Bailey, Ablett and Leuleui are crap according to most.

| What a strange thread! I find it difficult to imagine just how big a chip on your shoullder you would need to start a thread like this. That it comes from a supporter of the 3 times consecutive Grand Final winners is nothing short of staggering!

| I would suggest Damo let Paul Sculthorpe make the final judgement, the winner will have the reward of lacing Pauls brand new boots that he bought over the weekend.

| O'Loughlin is a workaholic but doesn't offer enough (if anything) in attack to get near to a Golden Boot award.
Doing my website I know that he hasn't scored a try in an away game for two and half years (although he scored at neutral murrayfield this year). Hardly the form of a golden boot winner.

Check the link. They are different types of players. O'Loughlin makes more meters, more tackles and more missed tackles. Whilst Sinfield makes more offloads, more attacking kicks and more kicks in general play. Basically, if you want a player to punch holes through the defence, go for O'Loughlin. However, if you want one to actually control the game, go for Sinfield.
...as for O'loughlin performing well at second row, you could argue that thats the best position for a man with his direct running / defence breaking skills.

I dont really understand that award, whens he played at hooker he's looked fantastic but when he played loose forward he hasnt (even most leeds fans agreed he had a poor first half against the aussies before he moved to 9).
If anything he should have been a candidate for the hooker position surely?

Against Australia he played LF, hooker and stand off and was our most creative player from all three positions, IMO.
Last weekend he played hooker and Lf and was clearly the best player on the park.

In the second half playing hooker he was excellent, but in the first half playing loose he was no where near as effective.

Given it a bit of though the two of them are very different rugby league players. I can’t always get everything right but I still stick by the point that Kevin is the better player.
