| Henson for Welsh RL.
Good news for everyone else I'd say.

| Guys put aside what you've read about Henson in the Sun.
I've seen him at his peak (when Union still interested him) and he can win games on his own.
The Welsh player most suited to a Union to League conversion would be our full back Lee Byrne (who incidentally has played both codes). He would not only walk into any League side in Britain (including the national teams), he would captain them shortly after. There in nobody in either code who has better running lines or spatial awareness than Lee Byrne. Except Gavin Henson when on form.
Now Gav may have sent a lot of time injured and he may appear disinterested in Union (I can currently understand that), but there has rarely been a more gifted rugby player of ANY code than Gavin Henson on form.
If he can regain HALF his top level form, he'll still get into most SL sides.

| He's mega fit. They should sign him to league just to make the Sky promotional shots more appealing.

| Henson might not set the rugby league world alight. but his name alone will put bums in seats. it'll put replica shirts on backs. it'll bring money and exposure to the game in this country. two things that are lacking from international RL.
but why should we go for something that'll gain those colume inches in the national press that so many on here claim RL is denied by a union biased press?
no. far better to deride the idea with mock and scorn and go on whining about how we never get any press coverage

| And speaking selfishly if he also came to Crusaders, he'd really put bums on seats and, so long as our team next year is more competitive, help keep them there.
As I posted earlier, only Lee Byrne would be a better RU-RL conversion for us.

| He wouldnt turn you into a super team though.
I remember when we first signed Gleeson back in 04/05ish.. marked out of the game almost even though he played well.
Byrne looks one of the most gifted Rugby players of either code i've seen in ages.

you're missing the point. Henson doesn't HAVE to turn the Crusaders into a super team. But his name alone will put the team on the map. Crusaders will get an increase in press coverage, likely a few extra season tickets sold, a shed load of replica shirts with his name and number on the back flying out the club shop. If marketed right, his signing could set the Crusaders up for life

Oh I agree totally chief.
I was just making the point that he'll get shedloads of stick and in that team probably wouldnt look anything special.
Heck if you stuck Mark Gasnier in that team he wouldnt look anything special

..bigger and faster are just two tools in the box. You've got to know how to use them.
On Saturday I watched a guy with all the gear prove he had no idea. He was so far off the pace he didn't even realise he was having a bad game....

| I hope it happens for all the reasons that it would start to put Celtic on the map.
Have they actually signed anyone for next season?

I went.
Celtic were that poor they made amateur sides like Halifax look impressive.
Just because a side are deemed 'professional' it doesnt mean they necessarily play like a professional outfit

| Halifax aren't amateurs.
If you're trying to establish a credible point for once then lets not be stupid about Halifax.
I personally think the Championships bobbins but its still superior to park footy

.....you're talking about professional rugby union players. I prefer to talk about RL players. Potential RL players from RU (or anywhere else) require a lot of work to get anywhere near the pace. I'm sure it's the same the other way round....not that that's anything I care about.

Seriously??
I watched a bit of their game against someone else (can't recall who, it was very boring) on Sky the other night and they looked very amateurish.
One of the players had a replica jumper with no number on....and no socks

| Would he bring this style of play with him?
Saracens chief executive Edward Griffiths has criticised fans who booed during Sunday's win over Gloucester.
Supporters jeered and slow handclapped during a lengthy passage of second-half kicking at Vicarage Road, a reaction Griffiths described as "astonishing".
