Well he cant be any good because I read all the major Rugby League publications and Ive never heard of him!

Basically some of the Aussies on here cant accept the fact that an English player has gone well in the NRL so they have to write a load of old b@llocks to try and convince themselves otherwise, anyone who knows anything about RL knows that Ellis is a decent player and has done well in his first season down under.

If he's getting dominated why is he getting pick and playing 80 minutes each week?

I liken Gareth Ellis' year to that of Bronson Harrison's, minus the offloads. They've both been a model of consistency for their teams, playing 80 minutes every game. Barely a poor game between them, and will both rightfully represent their countries at season's end.

ellis hits a hell of a lot harder in defence than harrison.

so what? there are hundreds of thousands of australians who were born overseas, it doesnt make them any less australian. all the players you mentioned are australian, some have dual nationality, its called immigration buddy.

civoneceva has never played for anyone but australia and is australian as anyone of us. as for hayne being next on the list, he played for australia in 2007, the only reason he played for fiji is because he missed aus selection in 08, and our ridiculous rules allow players to switch when they miss out on their first country, which of course is a joke.

thats not true, plenty do, and some who go over with big reputations fail miserably. there are also plenty of players who are useless in the nrl who go quite well in super league. horses for courses!
