Fair enough, I came in from the A1 and can't say I saw an airport either

Personally I think if you take kids somewhere for 10 hours then you should take a few things yourself to keep them amused. i didn't take mine, but the kid in front of us had a few games in his bag.
I don't think you can expect them to provide anything more than enough to keep them amused between/before games personally.

This also happened at Cardiff though, on the first year i won tickets from the local radio station and they ended up in the cheap seats but when i got there the stewards said that we could go join the majority of the rovers fans in the upper level as there was plenty of space.
So the second year we just bought the cheapest tickets and done the same.

| Quote ="UllFC"you support a side that doesn't have a proper derby, so i don't expect you to understand. The hype that any derby generates in any of the RL towns which promotes the event even further and bigger crowds would have gone from Hull/Rovers, Leeds/Bradford and Cas/Wakefield IMO
and the football league playoffs are only 2 games on the saturday and the sunday, and neither of these generate a great amount of publicity. Last years league2 final was Stockport-Rochdale, do you really think the magic weekend can't steal some coverage from a game like that?
instead of it battling for coverage against a whole round of football league games, 8 premiership games, a ricky hatton fight, RU european semi final...'"
Errrr, you said move it to the 2nd weekend in May. The play off finals are on the Bank Holiday weekend the end of this month. The play-off semi-finals start later this week, and all 12 (that's right, 12) games are live on Sky.
And i fail to see your point on the lack of derbies. How many people complained about having derbies on Magic weekend in the first place?
It seems a lot of people won't be happy until magic weekend is played in some sort of parallel universe, where everyone can walk through their wardrobe door straight into the full-to-capacity ground, pay 50p a pint, watch major international music acts provide the pre-match entertainment, and watch 80 minutes of quality, controversy-free rugby.
Come on Lewis, can't you see what the non-realists want? After all, you seem keen to try and pander to their every whim.......

Simple really , next year instead of going up to Edinburgh you could always go to the Championships ' Magic ' weekend at sunny Lytham St Annes

| There are about 4 park and rides along the A720 or whatever it is.
Major improvements for me would be
Stadium bus specials from the city to the ground would have helped influence more supporters to watch more games IMO.
More choice in the foods and drinks on sale once in the ground. It'd be nicer if they were cheaper to but I understand that at "events" you get events prices. Though to be fair they allowed you to take food in.
We didn't take the kids as they wouldn't manage a full day at the rugby but it would've been nice to see stuff to do actually within the stadium grounds rather than at the back somewhere that we didn't even know existed.

I made a typo then, I meant the 2nd bank holiday weekend
and yes some people don't like having a derby on neutral ground, but I reckon a lot of that would have been due to the ridiculous schedule of having 4 derby's a year, so it felt like there was a derby every 6 weeks or so. I'd be happy with 3 derby's a year, even despite Hull's woeful record against Rovers!

| Are we now really that stupid that we think the general population of either the Rugby League fans or the poulation of Scotland give 2 hoots (Pardon the pun) about the English Championship Play Offs? So it could be moved for the far supierior weather 2/3 weeks later. (PS Scotland being a cold Rainy Place as compared to the tropical climes of either England or Wales is an absoloute myth)
There is no way on gods green earth either that yesterday was colder than any Grand Final ive been to and ive been to a few. But hey thank god the welsh can control the weather by shutting a roof, that must be one hell of a central heating system.
I remember when the Grand Final was touted by us the fans as a no go and that it would never sell out, well they now HAVE to use Old Trafford due to sales and i have never been to a half full Grand Final and i dont even agree with the premise of it.
People will always moan but i think you will find that the Majority of the moaners are those that travelled all that way to watch their team lose and the ones who loved it like myself came home victorious.

2) Standardise ticket prices at £20/£10- you could go anywhere with any ticket
=redThe stewards were not stopping anybody from moving around the stadium this year
3) Maybe move it to the 2nd bank holiday in May? Weather may be a bit wamer
=redMaybe
4) The cost of food + drink was horrific- £6 for burger + chips. £3.50 for 330ml of cider- cheaper vans are required
=redThis was the main gripe £3.50 for a pint when it was £2.50 in cardiff IF it had been cheaper & publicized then a lot of fans might have gone to the stadium earlier Hence stadium would have been fuller & better atmosphere
5) Start the sunday games at 11.30. Last train south was 8.45 from Haymarket/ 8pm if travelling back to Yorkshire/ Lancashire
=redIf you book earlier enough for the weekend then theres nothing stopping you from getting your train fares cheap on the 12 weeks before option
6) The focus on the mascots was very OTT. They ran out before every game
=redThis pis*ed me off big time the Mascots are part of the clubs PR & the Kids love them as we do with Daddy Cool but it seem all together rushed

A special bus from the town to the stadium & back would have been nice
More going off outside the stadium ie fun & games for all fans like Its a knockout comp

Yeah actually i forgot to mention this and as such forgot that the whole weekend was a complete washout as such.
Due to the title of the thread we could always make MM better next year if the fans dont drink nor do they interact with each other in a way that offends the hollier than though mob.
Hull KR and Wire fans having a laugh together and FC fans enjoying themselves on a weekend away what is this bloody world coming to ????

If you did a full circuit of the stadium you'd have found -
Burgers
Hot Dogs
Pies
Fish (burgers, sausage etc) & Chips
Doughnuts
Indian
Chinese
Mexican
Baguettes
BBQ
Steak Sandwiches
Sausage Sandwiches
Sweets
Coffee
Sweetcorn
What else do you want?
The only thins that i could think were missing were Hog Roast and Jacket Potatoes, Veggies could have been slightly better catered for but it kinda knocks Cardiff's catering into a cocked hat...

Now you are talking tripe greame, i remember quite clearly paying £3.50 for a slice (Yes one slice) of pizza inside the millenium stadium now thats value.
Funny how i dont remember any other catering other than the ice cream vendor outside at Cardiff but i had been on a two day bender throwing Wire midgets down a hill. And laughing at Hull FC Fans dressed as clowns.

Book a hotel or a club trip then, the whole idea was fans staying in an area and having fun.
'"
By the same token, in the current climate, there are a lot of fans who generally would not have bothered if it had been the only option was to stay for the whole weekend.
The last train back to York from Edinburgh was at 8pm on Sunday night, so enough for me to see the Leeds game, lave and stroll back to Haymarket in plenty of time. Given Leeds first two appearances at MM were the last game of the night, it meant either a long coach trip back or not bothering.
I remember back in the 90s, when RL Internations were starting to be played at Wembley again, about the RFL and various RL Magazines laying on special charter trains to Wembley ... How about the same again ? I was lucky enough to get get cheap tickets (£23 return), but I am sure there is someone who could do something comparable and make some form of return on it ?
The problem with the derby games was the fact the they were played during the Magic Weekend, but for a Leeds fan last season we played Bradford twice during regular rounds and again as the 'extra' fixture as part of the league structure. With MM on top, frankly everyone was getting sick of the sight of Bradford. Maybe this was the reason for the change ?
Is there room for an 8th game, perhaps between Scotland (most of who's players play for NL sides and maybe an NL select team too ?). Make it a blank weekend for most of the NL (although Gateshead Vs Doncaster was a good idea for the Friday night) and move those fixtures to a cup weekend somewhere else in the calendar ?

Having visited Cas on a number of occasions, and knowing there isn't that much to do, I think you should introduce this to the village, it will go down a storm. You could even invite your cousins from the nearby village of Fev to join in. Such fun to be had.
You could even take it to the ski slope, have a winter event. Lets face it once Cas are relegated through the lack of a decent stadium, you're all going to need something to do on a sunday.

I forgot you were a Leeds supporter and your club trips cost a bleedin' fortune, didn't other clubs have reasonable coach trips for day fans? Quins supporters arrange the odd away coach and it runs at about £25 for most away games.
