| Terry Holmes is the one I thought of immediately on reading the thread title.
Other notable candidates include John Gallagher, Dai Young and, for the oldies amongst us, McDonald Bailey (Olympic 100m bronze medallist) who signed for Leigh in the 1950s and Arthur Rowe (European and Commonwealth Shot Putt gold medallist) who signed for Oldham in the 1960s. The last 2 played about 3 games in total between them I think.

Fielden was shot before he came to Wigan. He'd been nowhere near previous form for much of that season at Bradford.

| Tame Tupou @ Bradford. Heralded as the replacement for Leslie and played 14 games over 2 years and eventually was 'sacked' for not training and may still go to court for compo.

| Ivan Cleary was a good one for the Giants, signed his contract to come over and was regarded as the Clubs biggest signing for many a moon, then weeks before he was due decided to Retire from playing and take up a coaching role instead
then there was Andrew Tangata-Toa

| For me ours would have to be David Bishop. He had the talent to have really taken the team places but not the temperament. Spat his dummy, left us in the lurch and gave the club's decline a helping hand.

| Wigan had a couple of doozies in the early SL seasons, Doc Murray & the centre (koloto, koloi?) spring to mind.
Biggest flop? Must be Mark Carroll.

Neither were bad signings IMO.
It wasn't Bell's fault that he suffered a career ending injury in the first game or so. Also, Ben Walker was OK for us except when he was played at FB. Mullins was probably the worst from that era, he came over requiring surgery without telling Leeds (they should have given him a medical first though), and didn't ever seem that bothered to play for us, then goes home and signs for an NRL club (Roosters?) and had a decent season.
If we're sticking with Leeds the decision to sign Gareth Stephens in place of Jason Robinson has to be up there.

| If you don't take into account his injuries, Mathers has been a pretty poor signing for Wigan.

Play on words!
While everyone thought he would replace LV on the pitch he actually replaced him on the physio table.

Funny how he smacked Ryan Hudson and is derided yet Korkidas does sod all apart from smack a Fev player in a friendly and go on a run against Hull in the play-offs and is touted as a 'legend' by some of our muppet supporters!
(The answer is probably Clinton O'Brien from that vintage....)

| Steve Roach. Came to Warrington with the reputation of a hard ass, go-forward prop. I can only assume the reputation must have been retained at Customs.
No mention for the man mountain Phil Adamson?

| There are some shocking one here, but have any actually effected the club off the pitch as much as Harris, I can think of one, but it is in football and the other way round.
Eric Cantona Leeds - Man U
Leeds were champions mostly due to his exploits so why sell him to your main rivals???

Not denying what he did once he moved, but it's simply not true we won the title due to him. In fact, he was nothing more than a bit part player in the success, used a lot of time off the bench.
