If i were the NRL powers that be, there is really only two that id put in.

WA Reds-We want a better TV deal well then rugby league would have more interest in another state and i think it would give a national feel to the NRL.

Another QLD team-We want more QLD supporters than give them another team to support, NSW cant afford to have another team well we cant afford and dont deserve it in my opinion. The Central Coast in my opinion would weaken other supporter bases like the Knights. Plus theres so many games in NSW and Sydney is about an hour and 15 min drive from Central Coast.

Another QLD team and every year have all the QLD teams playing each other twice which means more QLD derbies more money.

1. Old school brisbanites blame them for the destruction of the local comp [and unfair call because it was always going to happen-brisbane teams in the Sydney comp.

1. On PNG - says the team will have political support from the governments of PNG & Australia. the png govt. will give $280,000 towards an nrl bid plys $20 million for a new ground, whilst the aussie government will give $260,000 towards for things like getting juniors registered in PNG, balls, other equipment etc.

the article mentions 2 million out of 6 million playing RL in some form.

queensland mining magnate clive palmer has already talked up an nrl bid citing the large number of wealthy energy companies in PNG.

gold coast chairman paul broughton has been convinced to join the bidding team

3. on Perth - the article says the nrl has told them they need to improve their infrastructure.

WA's bill nosworthy "the nrl have been very clear that expansion is certainly an opportunity and the only advice theyve given us is to keep building our infratructure and when the time is right, there will be opportunities"

the article says that PErth intends to add a team to the NSW Cup next year, whilst retaining the Bundaberg Cup team.

the article mentions the nrl as seeing expansion by 2013 as being very likely.

regards the proposed PNG team name: i rather liking the port moresby pirates.......or the pacific pirates...any other good ones out there?

The old Queensland Cup team was called the Port Moresby Vipers. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to bring back that name though if they're going to represent the whole country.

Matty Johns was very positive on the CEntral Coast bears in this weeks Rugby League Week.

heres what he had to say :

1. The central coast bears is a no brainer, it simply has to happen and will happpen

2. this old clubs lights appeared to be just out but men such as greg florimo refused to let it die even when the bears were out of sight, out of mind

3. the central coast is a RL stronghold, and while our game harbours ambitions to be truly national, you simply cant ignore the heartlands.

4. the central coast bears will of course re-engage so many of the old North Sydney Bears supporters who have understandably turned their backs on the game. i cant tell you how many Bears supporters ive run into who no longer follow Rugby League
