He’s even more special than me. Just pat him on the head like this to irritate and patronise him.

| Just keep the Hetherington under lock and key, the Yanks like glamour, unless one team are playing on Elm St then Kath would be ideal as a marketing tool.

Crowe backed the game in Florida last year. He's good publicity, but Trump's cash and coat-tails would be a much bigger issue.

| So what do you think the 8 cities are?
New York City, NY (1 team: Knights, and 2 local teams: Raiders and Wildcats)
Philadelphia, PA (1 team: Fight, and 2 teams in area: Sharks and Bulls)
Washington DC (1 team: Slayers, and 1 team in area: Eagles)
Jacksonville, FL (1 team: Axemen)
New Haven, CT (1 team, Warriors)
Boston, MA (1 former team, Wolfhounds)
Unless they're going with just any city, like Norwalk (which is where the Wildcats play), etc. then it could be pretty much anyone of the 10 current teams!
Interesting that the West Coast Rugby League are also talking about the NRLUS venture also [urlhttp://westcoastrugbyleague.com[/url
Everything is just guesswork, really. This could either be really big exciting news or just another false down in international RL.

| Even if they went part time and got some proper funding Championship style it would be a major way forward.

Could be what they're implying. Never said full-time. (Doesn't actually say much at all!). If they can get the standards up to Championship 1 level, then maybe they could have a four-way tournament between the winner from that league, the French league and the Russian league.
8 cities and 8 teams implies they have an idea of what the format will be.
BUT WE NEED MORE INFORMATION!!!

| with this on the horizon, it would be idiotic not to have some RLIF funded internationals and the WCC over in the US
even if it is only a step to a national semi-pro comp, that is a huge step and a massive acheivement from the administrators over there

Looking on the main page of that site suggests Jacksonville are struggling. Had to pull out of the playoffs despite winning their first game.
Not surprising though, the US isn't a small country and Jax rack up the airmiles getting to games.

WCC would be a great idea. Doubt it will happen though which is a shame.

| Reading all the league unlimited stuff I'm worried this lot will be too much too soon.
LA? Sounds like it could be realllly ambitious.
Fail and you could destroy the lot for good, massive debts etc, i'm reminded if an early SL situation.

| Have you seen videos of them playing?
They all seem to be big lads but apart from the odd Englishman or Australian, the standard seems to be the equivilent of North West Counties higher divisions.
Fair play to them though.

| I remember taking two Americans to a Leeds game and they were amazed by the game, asking questions like,
Do they stop after 5 mins,
Do they have an attacking and defending teams,
How many subs etc....
They couldn't belive the speed of the game and the intensity of it, and the fact that there was such a small playing roster.
They were that impressed they flew back for the Leeds v London Challenge cup final!
This is a game that really could take off in america. All it needs is someone like Trump to start it.
The main problem is the media, they love the four main sports American Football, Basketball, Baseball and Ice Hockey because there is lots of stoppage time where they can place commercials in.
This may mean that for it to take off over there it may have to change to 4 quarters of 20mins.
Remember Murdoch owns a tv channel over there so if he wanted to do it he could.
I'm sure if the Trump rumor is right or any other rich person could start it, it would soon take off. But that is the challenge getting it started. Just look at football (soccer).
